Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower oth- ers to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feath- ers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristotle's mantra, "It is the mark of an edu- cated mind to entertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Welcome to the August issue of Diversity Rules Magazine! It is pre y unbelievable that we are fast approaching fall already. Geez. Where is the me going? Quickly by, that's where. This month's feature interview is with Mi- chael Fairman. Michael Fairman grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Music was always his passion and first love. As a teen, he released his first recordings through a small label in Chicago. Once he graduated high school, he moved to Los Angeles and then to New York to pursue his career as a recording ar st. He formed a band to back him. They performed in clubs, recorded, and tried to get the A&R reps from the record labels to come out to his showcases, but they seldom came due to a myriad of excuses. The rejec on and the financial drain eventually convinced Fairman he needed a significant change. He put mu- sic on hold and moved back to Los Angeles, where he began a TV Produc on and enter- tainment journalism career. Michael just released a new single called "Be er Late Than Never." In "Be er Late Than Never," Michael Fairman responds to those who believe he has missed his chance at a aining his music dreams. Wri en and produced by Fairman and Kyle Mangels, "Bet- ter Late Than Never" is a soulful groove song, the likes of Tinashe, that combines the classic R&B harmonies of a Stevie Wonder tune with the Pop/R&B feel of a modern-day Nick Jonas track. The song's message is simple yet pro- found: if you believe, you can achieve. "If you want something bad enough, isn't it worth trying for it rather than forever wondering, 'what if'?" Fairman asks. It's an appeal that has par cular relevance today as the world prepares for the Olympic games. It reminds listeners that some mes, to reach one's goal, you must first endure heartache, pain, nega- vity, and disappointment. The August issue also includes ar cles and columns from the regular contributors you have come to know and love. It also has some new features and ar cles of interest. Stay safe, as we are in a new surge of infec- ons in the unvaxxed. Get vaxxed if you have not done so. Do yourself a favor and protect yourself and OTHERS. Do not hesitate to get the vaccine.
