Nixon was born in Cleveland County on December 22, 1940. He was the son of the late Thurman and Pansy Martin. Mr. Martin served our country in the U.S. Army. Nixon is sur- vived by his wife, Linda Jones Martin and his daughters: Nicole Martin Jones and husband, Reg (Pinehurst) and Tricia Martin Whitaker and hus- band, Hardin (Shelby); his five granddaughters; and his sister, Norma Koon and hus- band, C.O. His funeral service was held July 20, 2021 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Dr. Rit Varriale officiat- ing. Burial followed in the church cemetery. BOLIN Ervin J.V. Bolin, age 90, of Kings Mountain, went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2021. Born in Smyrna, SC on August 25, 1930, of Madison Monroe and Hester Hudson Bolin. Mr. Bolin served our coun- try in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florene Chapman ("Rene"). J.V. is survived by his eight younger siblings: Max Bolin and wife, Joyce, Hazel Wilson, "Lib" Gault, Faye Brock, "Pat" Cover, "Becky" Dye, Joyce Shuford and hus- band, "Buzz", and Bob Bolin and wife, Jean; his sons and their wives: Dennis Bolin and wife Leslie, and Danny Bolin and wife Melany; and ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at David Baptist Church in Kings Mountain July 24, 2021 with Rev. Brian Taule officiating. He was interred at the David Baptist Church cemetery. VERNA JANE RAY McLAMB Verna Jane Ray McLamb, age 86, of Crouse, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Diane was born in Cleveland County, NC on November 25, 1954 to the late Marshall J. Craig and Edna Lucille Keller Craig. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nellie Sue Craig Swafford and Helen Craig. Survivors include her hus- band, Julius Allison; son, Doug Hudson of Vale, three stepchildren, Mickey Allison of Statesville, Patricia Gilbert of Greenville, TN and Julius Allison, II of High Shoals; three step grandchildren; three brothers, James Craig of Vale, Ernest Craig of Vale and Fred Craig of George Hildebran; and a sister, Shelia Ramsey of Vale. She was born on January 3, 1928 in Anson County, NC to the late Jerry Bowman and the late Ida Crowder Bowman.
