SAT. & SUN. 11am - 5pm 11am - 5pm ListentoLife.org LISTEN TO LIFE by Dr. Joey Faucette Are you carrying a load ... and don't know it? One summer, on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert an hour east of Bakers- fi eld, California, some folks, new to boat- ing, were having a problem. They couldn't get their brand- new 22-footer going no matter how hard they tried. It was so sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much they opened up the throttle. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted to a nearby marina, thinking someone there could tell them what was wrong. They found someone there who did a thor- ough topside check that found everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fi ne, the outdrive went up and down, the prop was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath, and came up choking on water, he was laugh- ing so hard. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer. Are you carrying a load…and don't know it? Check un- derneath your attitude today and make sure you Live Posi- tive and make a life worth living. I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 4 eggs 1 ½ cups packed brown sugar ¾ cup butter, melted 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 ½ cups all-purpose fl our 1 ½ cups whole wheat fl our 1 cup rolled oats 1 tablespoon baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon salt 1 ½ cups coarsely grated unpeeled pears • Stir together the fl ours, oats, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. • In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Gradually beat in the brown sugar until the mixture is thick. Beat in the melted butter or marga- rine and the vanilla. Beat fl our mixture into the liquid mixture, and then stir in the grated pears. Turn the batter into a greased and fl oured tube pan. •Bake at 325 degrees for 70 minutes, or until it tests done with a toothpick. Trans- fer cake to a rack to cool. www.momsinprayer.org Our Mission: Moms In Prayer International impacts children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray. PEAR CAKE
