On Monday, July 19 Rick Austin, Executive Director of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, was the guest speaker at the Golden Valley Community Club - on the corner of Jonestown Road and NC Hwy 226 in Golden Valley. “This is a beautiful area of the county, and it’s interesting to see that Chimney Rock and Lake Lure aren’t the only place in Rutherford County with mountains”, said Rick Austin. The Executive Director spoke on his various initiatives to bring jobs and economic develop- ment to the county. The members of the Community Club discussed their issues and con- cerns about trying to do business in the outskirts of the county. “I guess you can see we don’t have internet or cell phone service out here”, said one of the attendees. The group discussed ways to bring these basic services to their side of the county and ways to create jobs and entrepreneurs in Golden Valley.
