YouthWorks, a national program that puts young people in communities across the country to assist with various jobs during the summer, has been working in Rutherford County since June. Last Thursday, July 15, the young people above worked at the Washburn Outreach Community Center in Bostic. From Indianapolis, Indiana, the youth helped pack food boxes, load the boxes for the clients coming to the center, did a painting job and assisted with other projects for more than four hours. Each week the Center has provided breakfast biscuits and lunch for the young people and their leaders. The same group worked with Rutherford Housing Partnership earlier in the week helping to renovate a Spindale home. Each week a new group of youth have worked in the county. This week marks the fi nal week of the volunteers. They have been housed at the Spindale United Methodist Church throughout the summer.
