LILLIAN ANN SMITH BRYANT Lillian Ann Smith Bryant, 73, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021. Born in Catawba County, on June 19, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Turley Farrow Smith and Ella Mae Mellon Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Tony Sutherland; three brothers, Tom, James, and Robert Smith; and six sisters, Betty Strange, Lucille Barns, Elizabeth Davis, Lula Huffman, Helen Swink, and Clara Smith. She is survived by her SHERKIA WITHROW Sherkia Nichole Withrow, 34, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021. She was born on March 24, 1987 in Mecklenburg County, NC. She was preceded in death by her maternal moth- er, a grandmother, and great grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Withrow; her father, Rick Wray; her siblings: Tyrell Withrow, Johnny Withrow, Antonio Withrow, Jason Withrow, Dontrae Withrow, Amy Shell, Dysheena Miller Hoskins, Quentin Shell, Antonia Wilson, Alisha Burston Ahmed, Christopher Walton, amd Rebecca Brooks. Burial took place at Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. RALPH GARY SARVIS Ralph Gary Sarvis, 88 of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on July 3rd, 2021. Born in Gastonia, NC, he was the child of the late Kelly Reid Sarvis and Arra Grice Sarvis. He was preceded in death by a son, Darren Reid Sarvis; two brothers, Charles Sarvis and Buford Sarvis; and three sisters, Katherine Cole, Margaret Killian, and Jean Cox. He is survived by two sons: Dana Wayne Sarvis and wife, Chris, La Quinta, CA and Adrian Dean Sarvis and wife, Carrie of Garner, NC; and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 10, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC with Rev. Don Williams officiating. two sons, Brian Sutherland and wife, Cheryl and Steven Sutherland and wife, Lori all of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Sheila Ray and husband, Jeff of Shelby, Debra McKee and husband, Scott of Shelby, and Kimberly Sutherland of Gaffney; two sisters, Norma Gedeist and Carolyn Wright and husband, Hubert all of Fallston; and seventeen grandchildren and eight teen great-grandchildren. ANTHONY NORBERT SCHAFER Anthony Norbert Schafer, age 86, of Shelby, passed away July 4, 2021. Born on July 3, 1935 in Fowler, MI, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dora Schueller Schafer. In addition to his parents, Tony is preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. Tony is survived by his wife, Rose Green Schafer; one brother, Jerry Schafer; four children, Renee Bennett, Phyllis Powell, Tammy Merideith and her husband, Johnny, Barry Camp and his wife, Tammy; and nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was born to the late Thomas Clinton and Evelyn Hoy Matheny in Rutherford County, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Doyle Hardin and her siblings, Reba, Polly, and Elijah. She was is survived by her son and daughter-in- law, Keith and Donna Hardin of Greenville, SC, and her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jerry Carter of Buford, GA; her nine grand- children and ten great-grand- children. Born in Cleveland County, NC on April 19, 1970, Sonja was the daughter of the late, James Robert Melton. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joey Melton. MANUEL EDWARD BELL Manuel Edward Bell, age 86, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Born in Cleveland County on October 9, 1934 he was the son of the late Jonas Edward Bell and wife Ethel Hullender Bell. He also served our coun- try in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister and three broth- ers.
