"Naomi Osaka" Get an inside look into what it takes to become a world-class ath - lete when the new documentary miniseries "Naomi Osaka" comes to Netflix on Tuesday, July 13. An in- depth look at the life of the titular Japanese American tennis player, the three-part series follows Osaka through 2018 and 2019, a pivotal time in her career as she rises to fame and explores her cultural roots. Now a four-time Grand Slam champion and ranked the No. 2 women's tennis player in the world at the time of writing (with a previ- ous No. 1 ranking), Osaka was the first woman of Asian heritage to reach the top in singles rankings — and all at just 23 years old. An outspoken advocate for athlete mental health, Osaka is shaking up the sports world and bringing viewers along for the ride with her. "A Classic Horror Story" (2021) As the saying goes, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." But what about giving an old trope new twists? The new Netflix origi- nal film "A Classic Horror Story," which premieres on the platform this Wednesday, July 14, puts that question to the test. This gruesome Italian suspense horror follows two strangers traveling in the pic- turesque south of Italy. When the pair end up trapped in the woods, their luxurious adventure becomes a chilling fight for their lives. Pay- ing homage to past horror greats, this new film gives a few haunting twists to some tried and true horror staples. WHAT'S NEW ON PRIME "Making the Cut" - Season 2 Make your way back to Prime for the release of "Making the Cut" Season 2, coming to the platform on Thursday, July 15. "Project Runway" producers Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum return as hosts of this fierce competition series, putting some of the world's best amateur designers to the test in a gauntlet of challenges designed to push their creative skills to the limit in catego- ries ranging from brand building to resort wear to modern wedding attire. Ten hopeful designers and entrepreneurs will take on the challenge, but only one can come out on top and prove they have what it takes to "make the cut." The winner will take home a $1-million prize to invest in their business, as well as the opportunity to create a clothing line and secure a mentor- ship with Amazon Fashion. So, who will make it and who will get cut? Find out with the second season of this high-stakes competition series when supermodel Winnie Harlow ("America's Next Top Model") and superstar designer Jeremy Scott join the judging panel. WHAT'S NEW ON HULU "American Horror Stories" - Season 1 Creator and writer Ryan Murphy ("Glee") returns with more ter- rifying television for your summer lineup, with "American Horror Stories" making its series debut on Thursday, July 15, on Hulu. A spinoff of Murphy's own American Horror Story franchise, this episodic anthology will follow in the foot- steps of its predecessor. While the production team is still keeping new plot points close the chest, fans of the series can expect the same twisting stories and chilling scenes that made the original such a hit. "American Horror Story" took fans on a journey with a host of different characters and locations each season, including to a house with a deadly past, an insane asy- lum, a witch coven, a freak-show circus, a haunted hotel, a possessed farmhouse, a cult, an apocalypse and even a slasher summer camp. The new series features Charles Melton ("Riverdale"), Kevin McHale ("Glee"), Nico Greetham ("Power Rangers Ninja Steel"), Dyl- lon Burnside ("Pose"), Kaia Gerber ("Sister Cities," 2016), Paris Jack- son ("Gringo," 2018) and Danny Trejo ("Machete," 2010). "McCartney 3, 2, 1" Don't miss the new docuseries "McCartney 3, 2, 1," in which rock legend Paul McCartney and legendary music producer Rick Ruben "come together" once again, this time for Hulu, on Friday, July 16. In a unique conversational format between McCartney and Ruben, the six-episode music series event features in-depth looks into McCartney's career and life, with nearly 60 years of culture-defining music from The Beatles to Wings and his solo work (per Rolling Stone). This intimate portrait gives fans a chance to hear McCartney dig into his songwriting process, inspirations and relationships like never before as they go through "a day in the life" of one of the world's most influential artists. WHAT'S NEW ON HBO MAX "Space Jam: A New Legacy" (2021) Get pumped and practice your free throws for the long-anticipated "Space Jam" (1996) sequel, "Space Jam: A New Legacy," when it lands on HBO Max on Friday, July 16. This out-of-this-world, live-action/ computer-animated hybrid film features another basketball leg- end, this time around bringing in four-time NBA champion and MVP LeBron James. The story follows James and his young son, Dom (Cedric Joe, "Modern Family"), as the pair get trapped in a virtual world by a rogue artificial intel- ligence. In order to get back to their own world and family, they team up with the Looney Tunes gang to defeat the AI's "goon squad" team in a game of basketball. With a host of returning Looney Tunes favorites, this standalone sequel brings back all the wacky adventures, mishaps and mischief that audiences have grown to know and love.
