Expressions of sympathy may be made at stodghillfu- neralhome.com Park market opens in Owensville By Janice Barniak SG Star-Times Editor editor@sgstartimes.com Amanda Tindle, also known as "Crazy Plant Lady," brought plants she propagated to sell at the first Steelman Park Farmer's Market Saturday, which opened with Norwex, Color Street, Scentsy, Avon, The Body Shop, crafts, baked goods, yard sales, plants and blackberries signed up to sell, though bad weather did end the market early and prevent- ed some vendors from show- ing up. "We have different hybrids for aloes. Many people don't know there's more than one kind of aloe. They only know aloe vera, so I brought those out to show," Tindle said. She also brought Thanksgiving Cactus and succulents. "I have a Crazy Plant Lady blog, so I thought this was another way to talk to people about plants and let them know if they have plants and need help, there's a website for that." The market had no vending fee for its first event, which led some like Tindle and cake cup vendor Neka Williams to try a risk-free way to meet custom- ers and test the waters. "I would like to have a busi- ness, but this is my first one of these," Williams said. "I just wanted to see how it would go over." She makes cake cups, not cupcakes. Her cake cups are cake and icing in a cup, which makes it more portable and easier-to-eat on the go. On Sat- urday, she brought salted car- amel, red velvet, lemon blue- berry, butter pecan and straw- berry lemonade. Steelman Park Markets are set from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first and third Saturdays of each month. To sign up, call the library at 812-724-3335. Neka Williams sold cake cups in Steelman Park Saturday at her first-ever vendor fair. Michael Baldwin, left, and Carter Hoskins sold food at the Steelman Park Mar- ket Saturday. Albert Byrns put away his wood carvings just before it began to rain. Amanda Tindle sold succulents and small plants she grew at the Steelman Park Market. Karla Garrison fought the wind to get her tumblers put away before the storm. Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch.
