The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, June 16, 2021 B-5 items: 812-354-8500 news@pressdispatch.net Petersburg the pro-choice, killing you? Inc. pro-choice, of you? Methodist Baptist Church of Christ Catholic Catholic Independent Independent Christian Church of God Lutheran GLEZEN G.B. CHURCH Corner of Center and Sycamore Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; Wednesday Bible study 6:30 p.m. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut-ins and our lost loved ones. "The wilderness will rejoice and blossom" (Isaiah 35:1). Message from Bouquet of Blessings: My grandmother loved her garden, she grew vegetables out of necessity, but she grew flowers for sheer delight. She always displayed confidence about her flowers, expecting glorious blooms without question. She raised nine children fol- lowing the Great Depression. She lost her parents and hus- band at an early age and man- aged three farms for decades following their deaths. One day in her garden, among her flowers, she helped me discov- er the source of her strength. Always asking questions, I wondered aloud, "Do all plants bloom? " She poked at a partic- ularly tall, bright blossom and said "Plants bloom because that's what God made them to do. See how their faces look up to the sky? They are smil- ing at God. They smile every day, thanking him for life and thanking him for his blessings of sunshine and rain." Smiling at God, much like her flowers, Grandma's soul smiled through the days bright with promise, as chal- lenging days filled with hard- ship and grief. She did it be- cause that's what God cre- ated and enabled her to do. For Grandma, living a life of praise did not depend upon her circumstances, but upon her God. Isaiah paints a picture de- scribing a hopeful life, a life filled with thanksgiving and praise, a life lived by God's people: "The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom, it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy" (Isaiah 35:1-2). Dwight Howe, Pastor Karri Brock, Reporter MT. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH 6100 S. Your pres- ence will be appreciated and I'm sure you will feel the bless- ing of God. "Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles" (Isa- iah 40 :31). Nowhere does the Bible teach that Christians are ex- empt from trials and tribula- tion and natural disasters. We live in a world infected with the disease of sin, and we share in its misery and pain. But the Bi- ble does teach that we can face trials with a power others do not have.....the power of God. As we trust Him, God helps us endure, and even discern His purpose in he midst of suffer- ing. The eagle has the unique ability to lock its joints and soar effortlessly on an updraft, instead of flapping its wings. As we wait on God, He helps us use the wings of adversity to soar above our problems. As the Bible says, "Those who wait on the Lord shall mount up with wings like eagles." May God bless each and ev- eryone. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter GR ACE G.B. CHURCH 1007 E. Psalm 37:4 offers us a key to powerful prayer. When we completely delight ourselves in the Lord, the desires of our heart will be the desires of God's heart. Then the things we ask for will surely be given, because they will be in accor- dance with God's will for us. "Dear Lord, we ask for what you want for us. Draw our hearts so close to you that we never ask for anything that is not in your will"—Amen. We invite you to worship with us. Ralph Newkirk, Pastor Marla Morrison, Reporter BETHEL G.B.
