From down payments and mortgages to staging, pack- ing and saying goodbye to the setting of many memo- ries, the thought of selling a home and buying another can be enough to dissuade couples and families from moving at all. Luckily HGTV has a new limited series chronicling all the unpleasantness and ex- citement of the housing mar- ket process. "Two Steps Home," an eight-episode limited series hosted by Jon Pierre and Mary Tjon-Joe-Pin, premieres Wednesday, June 16, on the Discovery-owned home and garden network. Mary, a designer, and Jon Pierre, a Texas-based real es- tate agent, are no strangers to HGTV. The pair previously hosted the network's "Going for Sold" before deciding to ease the minds of viewers thinking of entering the hous- ing market. "The home buying and sell- ing process can be very over- whelming," Mary said. "So many people leave money on the table when they sell, and feel forced to make compro- mises when they buy. We're taking two steps to change that." The steps mentioned con- sist of Step 1, repairing, primping and staging the owner's current house to be ready for resale (taken care of by Mary), and Step 2, get- ting familiar with the local housing market to be able to get a house that ticks most of the desired boxes without breaking the bank (this is where Jon Pierre comes in). Of course, it isn't quite this simple. Each episode will consist of specific tips and tricks tailored to various unique experiences.
