Early Sunday evening, a Petersburg man was arrested after police noticed a person driving who they knew to be suspended. Everett Sutt, 63, of 513 S. Seventh St., Petersburg, was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Petersburg Officer Scott Arnold said he was on patrol, and noticed Sutt driv- ing a van and knew his license was sus- pended. He stopped Sutt on McCoy St. and while talking to him, noticed glassy eyes, slurred speech and the odor of al- cohol. Officer Arnold said Sutt admitted he had drank a pint of vodka. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he tested 0.13 percent for blood alcohol, which exceeds the Indiana legal limit 0.08 percent. A Wheatland man was arrested on nu- merous charges after police stopped him because his trailer hitch ball was block- ing his license plate. Robert P. Wells, 53, of 2313 S. SR 241, Wheatland, was stopped on Friday, June 4 at 3:27 a.m. by Pike County Deputy Sheriff Jared Simmons. Simmons stopped Wells on Ninth St., near Cherry St. in Petersburg. Deputy Simmons said when talked with Wells, he noticed bloodshot and unresponsive eyes, and that Wells was extremely fid- gety and making irregularly fast move- ments with his head. Simmons said these are signs of meth intoxication. Wells failed field sobriety tests and then tested 0.00 for blood alcohol con- tent. He eventually admitted he had do- ne meth recently. He was transported to the Daviess Community Hospital, where he tested positive for amphet- amines, methamphetamines and THC in his system. During a search of Wells' vehicle, po- lice said they found 5.7 grams of meth and a glass smoking device with mari- juana residue in it. Wells was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he was charged with posses- sion of meth, at least five grams; oper- ating a vehicle while intoxicated, con- trolled substance; possession of para- phernalia; and possession of marijuana.
