The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, May 28, 2021 20 By Dana Simpson TV Media Make it or break it: If there was ever a TV show that could seamlessly combine arts and crafts, DIY, comedy and friendly competition in a prime-time slot, it would have to be "Mak- ing It." Now, on Thursday, June 3, Season 3 will finally be kick- ing off on NBC (and fans are more than excited). Created by comedians and "Parks and Recreation" besties Amy Poehler and Nick Offer- man — both of whom are con- sidered to be pretty active crafters in their own right and the latter who is a well-known author in wood-working circles — "Making It" is a unique competition series that allows a variety of crafty contestants (and owners to some of the most creative and dexterous hands in the country) to show off their skills. Separated into two main parts, the "faster-craft" and then the "master-craft" rounds, each episode will fea- ture a central theme around which the remaining contes- tants (Season 1 began with eight craftsmen and women, while Season 2 kicked off with 10) must create their products. While the "faster-craft" round sees competitors racing against the clock (and, of course, each other) to create a craft that is unique, sturdy and quickly assembled, the "mas- ter-craft" round hones in much more on the art behind the process and the finished prod- uct rather than the time it takes to complete it. The final prod- ucts are then judged by Poehler, Offerman, trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson and cre- ative visionary Simon Doonan ("The Fashion Show"). Despite the fact that the se- ries' eight-episode sophomore showcased a total of 10 con- testants, Season 3 is expected to feature just eight people lin- ing up to "make it" across its eight episodes. As always, however, the show doesn't re- quire much need for close- proximity work, so COVID-safe protocols are easy to maintain. realtalk Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman host Season 3 of "Making It" B/The Pine Shop 6x7.5 Oreck Vacuum Sales and Service, Bags & Belts for many other brands • Upholstery Available Oneonta's Oldest Furniture Store, Meeting Your Home Furnishing Needs for Over 45 Years!
