The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, May 12, 2021 B-5 items: 812-354-8500 news@pressdispatch.net Petersburg the Tuesday Lutheran Baptist Church of Christ Catholic Independent Independent Christian Church of God ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. St. Rd. 61 Winslow 812-582-0354 Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship at 10 :30 a.m.; Business meeting the third Sunday of the month, fol- lowing morning worship. Women's Bible study every other week. All ladies are wel- come to attend. Next study on Tuesday, May 18 at 10 a.m. As those who have been chosen of God, holy and be- loved, put on a heart of com- passion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bear- ing with one another, and for- giving each other, whoever has a complaint against any- one; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you" (Co- lossians 3:1,2 NASB). When someone hurts us, it isn't easy to look past the of- fense and into the offender's heart. But that is what God does for us, and he wants us to do the same for others. We may discover they are also drowning in their own sea of hurt. They, too, need a great measure of love. We should al- ways give our offenders grace, just as God gave it to us. We have loved ones in our community and area who have lost loved ones recently. We are keeping them in our hearts and prayers. We invite you to worship with us. Ralph Newkirk, Pastor Marla Morrison, Reporter CROSSROADS BAPTIST CHURCH 2789 S. State Rd 57 Oakland City Service times: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. CDT; Wor- ship service 10 :30 a.m. This Wednesday we pause our study, Twelve Extraor- dinary Women, so that we can start sorting through all the clothing and other items that have been brought to the church for our annual spring yard sale. The yard sale will take place June 4-5, but re- quires a lot of preparation; hence the pause in the study to ensure everything is ready. However, while the prepara- tion takes place, we will still have our children's activi- ties. Remember it all starts at 6 p.m. CDT, but is preceded by a meal that starts at 5:30 p.m. A special note is that the children will begin a new sum- mer series on May 26 with the theme "Bible Circus." We hope you and your children can join us Wednesday. Sunday morning worship service has a couple of spe- cial Sunday services planned for the remainder of May be- fore we leap into our next se- ries, which will begin in June, called, "The Parables." We hope that you will be able to join us for our special mes- sages in May and look for- ward to the new series start- ing in June. Hope to see you there. The na- tional prayer committee was formed in the United States in 1972. It's a common prac- tice of conscience to admit God's presence in prayer and fasting in the name of Je- sus Christ. President Donald Trump mentioned God eight times with three mentions tak- en from quotations last year in his national day of prayer. Barack Obama found space to mention God twice in his last national day of prayer. George W. Bush mentioned God four times in his. Our president now, Joe Biden did not men- tion God in his national day of prayer on May 6. Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who built it (Psalms 127:1). And blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord (Psalms 33:12). Ronald Reagan once said a nation not under God is a nation gone under. My prayer is for the chil- dren. That the people in charge of our nation's gov- ernment now will turn their hearts around and stop be- ing stiff necked and put God back in America, for the gen- erations to come, so they may know who our God is.
