Poplar Street, Petersburg See TOP on 2 See WEISMAN on 3 SOFTBALL SCHEDULE CHANGES Pike Central Athletic Director Dustin Powell reports that the suspended game with Princeton will resume Wednesday, May 12 at 6 p.m. in the bottom of the third with bas- es loaded, no outs and a 3-0 count on the batter. Coaches will start with the same line- up card and positions at the time of suspension. A baseball game will be going on at the same time and to help with the admission, softball attendees are to use the entrance at the back of the property. There will be no admission fee for the softball game. Evansville North has cancelled the remainder of their JV game due to injuries. This includes Pike Central on May 17. By James Capozella A six-run sixth inning put the lid on a 10 -1 Pocket Ath- letic Conference win against Southridge for the visiting Pike Central Lady Chargers this past Monday evening. The Lady Raiders got on the board in the fourth after the Lady Chargers had secured a 4-0 advantage in the top of the fourth. Mallory Hickey drove in the first run in the second inning and then nine more hits spanned the next five in- nings, with Brailie Mills, Lex- ie Onyett and Hickey each slapping two singles, and Kar- ley Kavanaugh and Xia Staf- ford doubling for a total of eight RBIs. Hickey drove in three runs and scored twice, and Hallie Bailey was good for a hit and one RBI. Kava- naugh and Onyett had two RBIs each, and scored three runs and one run respectively. Lady Charger sophomore Chloe Williams pitched sev- en innings, allowing four hits and one earned run, while striking out seven and walk- ing one. Senior Lady Raid- er Briley King took the loss, going five innings with sev- en hits, four earned runs and walking four. Junior Mad- dy Songer came in relief and gave up three hits, two earned runs, had two strikeouts and walked one. Claire Lanman was the leading Lady Raider batter with a pair of hits and one walk. Seven Lady Chargers, in- cluding Mills, Delaney Welch, Onyett, Sharp, Kavanaugh, Powell and Hickey, crossed the plate. Welch was issued two walks, and Mills, Sharp and Kavanaugh each had one trip. Raider Maddy Songer helped herself with one hit and one run, while Kenne- dy Nalley had the other hit. Songer went down swinging twice, as did Emily Ferguson. The Southridge Lady Raid- ers have had close losses to four PAC teams, the excep- tions being Boonville and North Posey, and now Pike Central. The 10 -1 loss on their home field Monday was their worse loss since their 14-0 season-opening contest with Bedford North Lawrence in March. Forest Park was their only PAC win in eight outings. Lady Charger softball head coach Stephanie Dwason commented, "The girls played well at Southridge. Netters forfeit one in 5-0 loss to Rebels Lady Charger tennis for- feited their number two dou- bles match against the visit- ing South Spencer Lady Reb- els Monday night and were de- cisioned 5 -0 in straight sets. Zoey Davis fell to Lady Reb- el Jacy Jarboe 6 -0, 6 -2 in the number one singles match and Ella McGuire lost to La- dy Rebel Lily Branham 6 -1, 6 - 0 on the number two singles court. Lady Charger Jaime Sallee lost to Katelyn Tindle 6 -0, 6 -0 in their number three singles match. Lady Chargers Regan Craig and Alaina Johnson fell to Lady Rebels Skyler Young and Kiy White 6 -0, 6 -2 on the number one doubles court. Weisman wins PAC 1600 meter run Places second in the 800 This year's 13-team Pock- et Athletic Conference cham- pionships did not prove to be a hindrance for Pike Cen- tral middle schooler Xavery Weisman. The eighth grader won the 1600 -meter run con- vincingly by nearly five sec- onds, with a time of 5:28.15. Mallory Watt, of Princeton, took the second place points in 5:33.80. In her 800 meter race, Weisman was nipped out of first at the wire by Lady Ranger Riley Hinson. Hinson clocked .64 seconds ahead of Weisman's time of 2:31.04. Weisman didn't get a height in the pole vault won by For- est Park Lady Ranger Carly Schnell at 7' even. Pike Central's Jaelee Love- less took fourth place in the high jump, clearing 4'4". Sa- die Willis added sixth-place points for the Lady Chargers in the girls' 400 -meter dash and Emma Brock was 17th in 1:08.14. The team of Jaelee Loveless, Katelyn Neal, Sa- die Willis and Abby Boyd placed fourth in the seventh grade 4x100 relay, clock- ing 59.69. Pike Central's 4x800 relay finished ninth in 13:22.55, and consisted of Lady Chargers Jesse Ridao, Emma Brock, Kylie Meyer and Katelyn Neal. Abby Boyd was 17th in the 100 -meter preliminary dash, Daegan Knepp was 18th in the 300 hurdles, and Makyn- na Satterfield placed 20th in the long jump. Kylie Mey- er was 20th in the 1600 and Jaelee Loveless was 23rd in the 200 prelims. Alexis Boyd was 24th in the shot put and discus, and Kenadie Houch- ins 25th. Knepp was 21st in the 100 hurdles preliminary and Kenadie Houchins was 23rd. Avery Vest was 25th in the shot put.
