Wilson A s director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Dominican University of California in San Rafa- el, Stacy Davidson has the opportunity to encourage awareness and understanding of others. She believes her work to build an inclusive campus environment is part of her spiritual journey: "I know this is where I'm supposed to be." 1 Did you ever imagine you would have a career in California? "This is my second go-round in California," says David- son. She hails from Newport News, Virginia, and after graduating with a degree in psychology from the University of Virginia, where she was a first-gen- eration college student, she joined her brother in San Francisco. "He was doing the '80s thing of finding himself," she explains. She worked at Hills Brothers Coffee and MJB Coffee, but then, "I had an aha moment at work one day," and left to earn a master's degree in college stu- dent personnel from Bowling Green University in Ohio. 2 What attracted you to such a degree? "There wasn't a connection initially. I didn't even know it was a thing," she says. Then she picked up a brochure EAST COAST NATIVE IS DIRECTOR OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION AT DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY – Photo courtesy of Trinity University
