22 NORTH BAY WOMAN S P R I N G | S U M M E R 2 0 2 1 By Lenice Smith T here are options when pair- ing mood with wardrobe. It is safe to say, our image can easily be reflected through fashion choices. Show of hands, how many of us purchase cloth- ing with the end in mind? Meaning, those eye-catching pairs of pumps, what happens when you've finished walking with purpose and no longer need the zeal of their sole? Where is the final resting place for the leopard print blouse your lovable fur baby snagged his tooth on while you played tug of war? Thrift store donations and shopping may be a solution. Bloom's thrift store, in downtown San Rafael, is where you will find people like Kailani Medina and her friend Emma Hartvickson. Medina is a student softball player at Dominican University. Her passion for thrifting comes through seeking vintage pieces because trends always come and go. Hartvickson, student and volleyball player for Dominican, says she can easily find proper clothing for business wear at a low cost. Thrifting is a unique Mood: Thrifty, Sustainable, Fashionable Sustainable fashion pressed against environmental impact ... a balance between individual choice and social responsibility.
