She is predeceased by her parents, Fred Hord and Frances Aileen Lowrance of Shelby; and sister, Mary Ann Lowrance of Kings Mountain. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Edith White Canipe and his step-father, A.L. Canipe. Mr. McMurry served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his broth- er, Scott Canipe. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Waters McMurry; son, Randy McMurry; daughters, Rita and Susan McMurry, all of Shelby; sisters, Betty Greene, Cathy Tolbert and Jane Phillips; brother, Bobby Canipe; and four grandchil- dren. A graveside service was held April 21, 2021 in Cleveland Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. Tim Sims officiating. Funeral services are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funeral Home & Aquamation Center. He is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson Neighbors; a son, Shawn Neighbors, of Cliffside, NC; a daughter, Chasity Hamrick of Gaffney, SC; and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. SIDNEY ROY DIXON Mr. Sidney Roy Dixon went to his heavenly home on April 20, 2021. He was born on March 28, 1922 in the Bethlehem com- munity and was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Flynn Dixon. He was also preceded in death by his par- ents, Ira and Mattie Dixon; brothers: Nelson Dixon, Marion Dixon, Frank Dixon, Gene Dixon; and sister, Frances Julian Dotson. Mr. Dixon served our coun- try in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by a daughter, Jean Webb (Harvey); son, Aaron Dixon (Paige); two grandchil- dren and two great grandchil- dren; a brother, Harley Dixon of Paducah, Kentucky; and sisters, Helen Wells (Boyce) of Kings Mountain and Sarah Faye Ruppe of Gaffney. BILLY WAYNE DAWKINS Mr. Billy Wayne Dawkins, 64, of Shelby, NC passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. He was born on January 9, 1957 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Earnestine Dawkins and the late Robert Patterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Sheila Marie Dawkins and Catherine Jean Dawkins; brother, Ricky Patterson; and maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Robert Leon Patterson (Colleen) of High Point, NC; and a sister, Amy Parker of Cherryville, NC. Funeral services were Mr. Dawkins will be private on April 22, 2021. Burial took place at Sunset Cemetery. BOYD BENTON Boyd Benton, 78, of Gaffney, passed away Tuesday, April 20th, 2021. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Sylvia Benton and the son of the late Dexter and Stella Benton. In addition to his wife, Sylvia Benton, Mr. Benton was survived by two sons, Karl Gene Benton, of Spartanburg, and Charles Daniel Benton, of Gaffney; one daughter, Sylvia Charlene Benton Knight, of Gaffney; two sisters, Vera Cain (Larry), of Grover, and Era Greene, of Grover; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Benton was preceded in death by two brothers, Dexter Benton and Ken Walker; and one sister, Frances McAbee.
