REDESIGN AN ENGLISH MANOR ILLUSTRATION BY JENNIFER GLICKMAN 103 Rolling Lane, Weston Square feet: 10,000-plus on 2.52 acres Beds + Baths: 6; 7 full and 3 half Amenities: The three bedrooms upstairs have an adjoining room that can be used as a kids' space Price: $6.995 million Agent: Traci Shulkin, Benoit Mizner Simon & Co. Real Estate, 617-939-6309; tracishulkin.com THE PRESENT Listing agent Traci Shulkin enjoys that this house is large but feels warm and inviting. "Each room has a special feature in it, like the office with leather ceilings," she says. "It is a cool, chic, but sophisticated house. The master bedroom has a gorgeous sitting room that overlooks the grounds and the Weston Golf Club. The best part of the kitchen is the accordion doors that you can open to bring the outside in, and the screened porch is large with a few different sitting areas." The built-in grill is just off the porch. "It isn't cookie-cutter new construction—a lot of thought, functionality, and beauty was put into it," says Shulkin. THE FUTURE, REDESIGNED Jennifer Glickman, of Glickman Design studio, appreciates the open layout of this house and the large scale of the architectural elements. "From the oversize windows to the wide halls, grand staircase, and tall ceilings, the space is grandiose. Natural light pours from room to room, highlighting the openness," says Glickman. "Updating the finishes and light fixtures, and adding contrast in the color palette will further emphasize its openness." 098-105_BC_F_RealEstate_SUM13.indd 104 She recommends dropped pendant lighting in the kitchen, dining room, hall, and study to accentuate their surroundings and provide sculptural elements at the ceiling level. While the kitchen is large, allowing for gourmet meal prep and PRESENT group gatherings, a darker, mid-tone satin brown finish on the wood floors would add a modern warmth, she says. "Glossy ivory cabinets with an elegant, inlaid panel-door detail and polished stone counters will pull the space together. A SieMatic kitchen would be beautiful in this space with Rejuvenation Polished Silver Hood Globes." Glickman Design Studio, 45 Newbury St., Ste. 505, 857-233-4928; glickmanstudio.com 6/10/13 3:18 PM
