Students used their skills to build marshmallow catapults. Logan Norman and Rylee Nelson get started on their catapult. Paisley Collins and Alivia Dawson have all the parts needed to construct their marshmallow launcher. Easton Smith and Anson Luff work on building their apparatus with tongue depressors, spoons, rub- ber bands and string. Petersburg Elementary School Caroline Elliott, Paisley Mikels and Kallie Rohr- baugh practice coding using physical directions during a game called Animals and Algorithms through Petersburg Elementary School's first year using Project Lead The Way. First grade is working on a Project Lead The Way module called Light: Observing the Sun, Moon and Stars. This activity includes searching the night sky through a stargazing app, then creating and nam- ing new constellations. This is Kameron Henry, Abby Woods, Moira Hudson and Briar Weisman with their constellation, "7 Beliefs." Ms. Julian's fourth grade class is finishing up a Proj- ect Lead The Way module called Energy: Conversion, learning about various types of energy and how to use it to solve real world problems. This is Ryleigh Wilson and Gage Weathers creating a device to help the students in our story use energy conversion to unload large trucks of heavy canned food to donate to the local food pan- try. Ryleigh and Gage are utilizing an app called Mind- omo Mind Map to brainstorm and design ideas for sim- ple machines to solve this problem.
