He was born on February 14, 1936 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Sterling and Olillian Baccus Cross. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Daisy Mae Cross, Josephine Cross, Evelyn Josey and Brenda Jones-Agnew; and four brothers, Clarence, Theodore, Preston and Freddy Cross. He leaves to cherish his memory to his brother, Benjamin Cross of New Haven, CT; and two sisters, Geraldine Cross and Sandra Richardson (Bill) both of Lawndale, NC. Funeral services for Mr. Cross were private. Burial took place at White Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro, NC. DANNY RUSSELL WRAY Danny Russell Wray, 62, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Russell and Goldie Mullinax Wray. A graveside Celebration of Life service was held March 22 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Bolin officiating. JOHNNIE BUFF Johnnie Buff, age 80, of Bostic, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021. Johnnie was born Tuesday, July 16, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late Curtis Sanford Buff and Lottie Stanley Buff. In addition to her parents, Whitworth (Angela), Bill Dollarhide; daughters, Stella Huffstetler (Bruce); Debbie Bird, Carolyn Foster, and Linda Kurley; and numerous grandchildren, great-grand- children, and great-great grandchildren. WILLIAM YATES DOVER William Yates Dover passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021. He was born September 23, 1940 in Shelby to Robert Lee Dover and Irene Elizabeth Roberts Dover. Mr. Dover served our country in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his par- ents and sister, Jean Elliott and her husband, Larry. He is survived by his wife, Judy; a brother, Jimmy Dover of Matthews; sisters, Nanci (Buford) Ellis of Shelby, Carol (Jerry) Ledford of Shelby, Joyce (Ron) Whitten of Knoxville, TN and Mary (Ronnie) Wilson of Kings Mountain. He was born on December 31, 1969 in Lowell, MA to the late Mary Elizabeth Locket. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a grandmother. He is survived by one brother, Jody Locket of Shelby. The service for Mr. Locket was be private. LEONARD WINDFORD EVERETT Shelby: Leonard Windford Everett, 91, died Saturday, March 20, 2021. A native of Borrow County, GA, he was the son of the late Paul Everett Sr. and Maggie Elizabeth Brown Everett. Leonard served our coun- try in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his brothers, Paul Everett Jr. and Dennis Everett. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Everett of the home; sons, Wayne Everett and wife Kathy, Mike Everett and wife Judy and Todd Everett, all of Shelby; sisters, Louise Lookadoo of Shelby, Mary Ann Curtis of CA, Kathy Everett-Rhyne and husband George of PA; and a grand- daughter of the home.
