But there is a giant hole in his basket and he's dropping eggs everywhere! Can our young citizens help us fi nd them all? The towns of Forest City, Rutherfordton and Spindale are teaming up for a unique spin on a classic spring favorite for the Easter Eggstravaganza - With A Twist! The Easter Bunny is hiding eggs each morning from Monday, March 29 to Saturday, April 3, and families can complete the hunt at their convenience. The eggs can be found in the Town parks, along the Thermal Belt Rail Trail, at local businesses and on Main Street. The Easter Bunny also left candy for the helpful children that fi nd the eggs. Keep an eye out for the special golden eggs that contain gift cards from local businesses, toys and more fun prizes. Courtney Ashley, the Marketing & Events Coordinator for the Town of Forest City, is excited about working with Rutherfordton and Spindale to cross- promote this event and their towns. "The past year has shown us how important it is to rely on each other," said Ashley. "We need each other now more than ever, and the Easter Eggstravaganza is a great way for our towns to work together to provide an opportunity for families to get outside and enjoy the wonderful amenities in our county." Ashley is the primary event planner for the Pavilion On Park Square (POPS) in downtown Forest City. The 2020 Easter Eggstravaganza at POPS was cancelled due to COVID-19, but the eggs had already been ordered and have been sitting in storage for a year. Now, in 2021, Ashley said, "We completely understand that many people are still apprehensive about gathering, so we all worked together to come up with a plan that would allow kids to participate in a safe Easter egg hunt. This also allows families to explore our community and everything that we have to offer in a different way." Easter marks the beginning of spring, warmer weather and a refresh. Ashley is hopeful that the scavenger hunt will bring some joy and encourage people to enjoy the challenge again, especially since so many public Easter egg hunts are usually a quick free-for-all. Scavenger hunters are encouraged to use caution when crossing streets, to maintain social distance and to wear masks when required.
