Alderman Bob Donovan's Operation Impact, which began in 2012, seeks to lower crime rates by increasing lighting in alleys. The initiative also includes adding cameras throughout areas with higher crime. Burnham Park is the next project for the alley lighting initiative. Operation Impact comes as a result of residents reporting multiple break-ins and graffiti. The darker it is, Donovan said, the easier it is for criminals to commit crimes. Donovan said he hopes the additional lighting will fix that. "The bad guys don't want to be seen," he said. "They are cowards, so the more McCarthy's comments about Packers are soft Page 11 Coach relies on being smart rather than tough See DONOVAN on Page 6 Photo by Kirsten Klahn/Special to The Post "Come to the grower for the best quality at fair prices."
