4A • WASHINGTON COUNTY POST • SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2021 GMTODAY.COM By Karen Stokes Special to Conley Media We're spending a lot more time at home and more people are looking for hob- bies to keep them busy. Scrapbooking is a fun hobby that can be done either by yourself, family members or friends. Wendi Dreher, advisor for Creative Memories, an independent advisor compa- ny sells scrapbook albums, papers and tools, offers sup- port you'll need for scrap- booking, also known as cropping, and organizes scrapbooking events. "Scrapbooking pre- serves memories of the past," said Dreher. "I think it's about the emotions that you feel when you look at these pictures and you say that it was a really good trip or I wasn't such a bad mom, even though I was busy and I worked, my kids and I look really happy. I think to myself, I'm glad I took this trip with my kids." Traditional scrapbook- ing is making a scrapbook with photos, cut them in a desired shape or size, stick them to the album with a glue stick and journaling with embellishments. Now there is digital scrapbook- ing, a form of scrapbooking that is done using a personal computer, digital or scanned photos and computer graph- ics software. Digital scrapbooking is cheaper and there's more options compared to tradi- tional. Whether traditional or digital you are preserving memories. "The store, Creative Memories is online but once a month we meet at The Annex. It's a community building in Kewaskum that holds about 300 people so we can have 10-15 people due to covid. It's open to anyone who wants to come," Dreher said. "Sometimes cropping is better than therapy." Dreher explains, "Be- cause of covid, I've learned a little bit more about Zoom. You can get together with friends, you can Zoom in and join. It's a major con- nection. Sometimes it's not about the paper or pencil, it's about the relationships you make. I'm much better in person." To contact Wendi Dreher, go to creativememories. com, email at rwdreher5@ gmail.com or call 262-689- 0122. "My family's favorite! We like to double this recipe for holiday gatherings," Dreher said. Preserve memories with scrapbooking Submitted photo Wendi Dreher, advisor for Creative Memories. Ham & Cheese Sliders Line a jelly roll pan with alu- minum foil, spray it with a cooking spray. Serves 12 (double makes 24 mini sandwiches). 1 stick of butter (melted in a glass bowl) while butter is melt- ed, add 1 tsp of dried parsley, 1 tbsp of Dijon or spicy brown mustard, 1 tbsp of poppy seeds, 1 tbsp dried minced onion, 2 tsps of worcestershire sauce, stir or whisk well. 1 pkg of Hawaiian rolls, slice THE ENTIRE PACKAGE of rolls (so they are open face), 1 lb of sliced ham (Badger or Virginia), 1 pkg sliced cheese (Swiss or provolone). Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the base of the rolls, next layer ham and cheese as you choose (I do thin layers alternating ham, cheese, ham and cheese), now put the top layer of the 12 rolls on top of the ham and cheese. Baste the tops of the rolls with all the melted mixture. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F for 18-20 minutes or until the cheese has melted, then uncover for the last 4 or 5 min- utes. You may need a pizza cut- ter or good sharp knife to cut them before you serve.
