She is the first female executive editor in the newspaper's 175-year history. Andrews' more than two decades-long career as an editor and reporter most recently included serving as a newsroom leader and managing the political report- ing team at the Denver Post. She also has led an award-winning investigative and enterprise reporting team at The Cincinnati Enquirer, where she spent 13 years in a variety of roles. In her new role, Andrews will also oversee the staff at The Gleaner in nearby Henderson, Kentucky, and will work with staff and editors in news organizations owned by the USA TODAY Network in Southern Indiana, including Bloomington. Her first day will be Nov. 30. Andrews said she and her family are excited about returning to the Midwest. "I'm a Midwesterner and really excited to get back to the Midwest and learn about Southern Indiana and Evansville," she said. Andrews said she believes strongly in learning about a news organization's audience and what its wants and needs are. "We are here for the readers," she said. "Evansville has a strong newsroom already with strong, experienced journalists, and I am very much looking forward to find- ing ways to continue serving its readers." My name is Patrick Murphy and I'm the new Sports Editor for the Rochester Sentinel. I began working for the Sentinel on Monday. I graduated from Ball State University in 2019 with a dual major in journalism (news) and telecommunications and a minor in creative writing. At Ball State, I covered sports at The Ball State Daily News. I covered the men's and women's tennis teams and men's and women's swim and dive teams. I played ultimate frisbee for the Ball State Wizardz and played pool in Muncie and Anderson. My first job out of college was at The Natchez Democrat in Natchez, Mississippi. I covered high school sports, worked on page design and had a variety of opportunities to write news stories as well. I earned third place for a fea- ture I wrote in the Mississippi Press Association Best Newspaper Contest. The most memorable experience I had at TND was going to New Orleans to cover the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Football State finals in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. I grew up in Greenwood, a town south of Indianapolis, and then moved to Mooresville, a town southwest of Indy, with my parents, Todd and Susan. I gradu- ated from Roncalli High School in 2015 where I swam and ran cross country. — Rochester Sentinel Murphy Ball State grad Murphy hired as sports editor of the Rochester Sentinel
