The Press-Dispatch

C-8 Wednesday, November 18, 2020 The Press-Dispatch Local woman arrested for OVWI By Andy Heuring A Petersburg woman was arrested after store employ- ees notified police of an intox- icated person in their store. Tammy Coan-Matteson, 62, of 906 E. Trafzer St., Peters- burg, was arrested for operat- ing a vehicle while intoxicated Friday evening. Pike County Deputy Sheriff Brad Jenkins said an employ- ee at CVS called police and no- tified them of an intoxicated person in the store who had arrived in a blue pickup truck. Deputy Brad Jenkins said he and Petersburg Officer Kyle Mills responded and saw a woman getting into a blue pickup truck. She then pulled out of the parking lot and drove north on Main St. Deputy Jenkins said he saw the truck go left of center twice, so he and Mills both turned on their emergency lights near Seventh St., but the vehicle continued north and turned onto Highway 61. The vehicle finally pulled over after Mills turned on his siren. Jenkins said when he talk- ed with Coan-Matteson, he immediately notice the odor of alcohol. She told him she had been to the doctor for a cut on her hand and it had become infect- ed, so she drove to CVS to get her prescription. Deputy Jenkins said due to Coan-Matteson's unsteadi- ness on her feet, he did not have her do field sobriety tests, but a portable breath test showed she was more than three times the legal limit for blood alcohol con - tent. She was transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper, where she tested 0.25 percent for blood alcohol content. Henderson man arrested on meth charges By Andy Heuring A Henderson, Ky., man was arrested on a charge of pos- session of meth after police re- sponded to the scene of him crashing into a water-filled ditch along Highway 64, near the Pike-Gibson County line. Cory M. Holderfield, 23, of 1502 Cumnock St., Hender- son, was arrested at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 10. Pike County Sheriff's Sgt. Buck Seger said he and Dep- uty Paul Collier and State Trooper C.J. Boeckman re- sponded to the crash. When they arrived, Holderfield told police a deer had run out in front of him, causing him to drive off the right side of the road into the ditch. Accord- ing to Sgt. Seger's report, police located a clear plastic baggie on the hood and wind- shield area of his vehicle. He said there was loose plant ma- terial on the hood in the area of the baggie that looked like synthetic marijuana. Holder- field denied it being synthet- ic marijuana, claiming it was marijuana. During a search of the ve- hicle, Sgt. Seger said po- lice found a plastic contain- er wrapped in black electri- cal tape in a toolbox that had white powder in it. Holderfield said it wasn't his truck and he didn't know what it was. The powder field tested positive for metham- phetamine. Police also said they found a metal smoking pipe containing a black burnt residue. Holderfield was taken into custody on charges of posses- sion of meth and maintaining a common nuisance, both lev- el 6 felonies.
