As NCAA student athletes, Owls players are not allowed to accept pay for playing in a summer league. As a result, summer collegiate baseball leagues have traditionally relied on local families to house their players. Host families are only obligated to provide a spare bedroom and access to a bathroom and laundry facilities. Each player is responsible for their own food and transportation, although the host family may include the player in family meals and activities. Hosting an Owls player can be a rewarding experience for the host family. Owls players are excellent role models for young children and teenagers, and are great company for the entire household. Often players and host families share a friendship that lasts well beyond the end of the season. The Owls will host a dinner for the host families and the players during the season and will also be recognized at an Owls game. If you are interested in hosting a Forest City Owls player, please do one of the following: • Contact the Owls by calling 828-245-0000 • Fill out an application online • Download printable application (PDF format) & mail to the Owls office The form can be returned to 353 West Main Street, Forest City, NC 28043 For Host Family information contact Denise Holland at 828-245-0000 or dholland@forestcitybaseball.com BIG TIME RESULTS 369 Butler Rd., Forest City Follow @Rutherfordwkly O Follow @Rutherfordwkly 828.248.1408 • rutherfordweekly.com On ©Community First Media ©Community First Media •Root Canals & Sealants •Crown & Bridge •Cosmetic Care •Tooth Colored Fillings Trish Millwater: Not yet.
