Red Bluff Daily News - Women In Business -Wednesday, October 21, 2020 - 3 _______________ By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter _______________ RED BLUFF - If there are two things that are important to longtime Tehama County businesswoman Lynne Moule outside of her family, they are com- munity and connection as noted in the name of one of her more well-known ventures - Business Connections, at the corner of Main and Pine streets. Moving to Red Bluff in 1977 from San Carlos due to affordable real estate and proximity to recreational opportunities such as snow skiing and water skiing, Moule has enjoyed the North State for its caring and supportive community of individuals and accessibility to bigger cities for theatrical entertainment and performances. Moule founded what is now known as Business Connections in 1979, starting as a temporary employment service that has gradually outgrown each of the original two names to become what it is today. "I began the business in my home on my dining room table on nothing but an idea," Moule said. "I went door to door to every business in town introducing the business' services. Business Con- nections was founded in 1979 offering staffing services and gradually ex- panded to offer public record searching, attorney support services, record keep- ing services, property management, Live Scan fingerprinting for the Depart- ment of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations, executive suite rentals, etc." Services today include a licensed real estate agent, registered unlawful detainer assistant, legal document as- sistant, process server and notary pub- lic. The expansion of what was offered started with an offer of an office in town in exchange for secretarial and recep- tionist duties. "The business began to slowly ex- pand to offer other business services," Moule said. "I learned early on in busi- ness to never say no, but instead allow us time to research and we'll get it done for you." That mindset. along with a determi- nation to find someone who can help if Business Connections isn't able to. has seen the building grow to have all 18 of- fice suites full. "We create the connections neces- sary for individuals and businesses, whatever the needs may be," Moule said. "I've mentored a number of women starting businesses over the years. Starting here, we help them grow, allow them to hire one of our temporary staff and eventually see them grow to the point where we help them find a place to move." Moule and Business Connections share a long history of introducing small business owners to the Small Business Development Center located in Butte County, even bringing the center staff to Tehama County to conduct seminars. Moule was on the advisory committee of the center for nearly a decade. It is just one of the many connections she uses to help Tehama County grow and blossom. She has served on the Tri- County Economic Development Corpo- ration as part of the Loan Administra- tion Board and the Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Executive Committee on the Board of Directors. Other involvements over the years in- clude being a founding member of the Cornerstone Community Bank, where she became a director Emeritus in 2019, a certified Ombudsman at Pas- sages Adult Resource Center, where she advocated for the elderly from 2002 to 2014, and the Elder Services Coordi- nating Council. She was a director from 1994 to 2004 for Mid Valley Bank. Moule's love of recreation led her to the Lassen Volcanic National Park Foundation, where she served as a di- rector from 2006 to 2010. She served on the Tehama District Fairboard as a director from 1997 to 2002. In addition to assisting with a re-election committee and a correctional facility siting com- mittee, Moule has served as a board member for United Way of Northern California and worked with United Way of Tehama County. Moule was a board trustee for Mercy Foundation North and a board director for the Learning Centers of Tehama County. Through her work with the Mercy Foundation North, she has re- cently become a member of the Cath- erine McAuley Circle at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. Among her many accomplishments, she was named Te- hama County Woman of the Year in 1995. Through her many connections in the community and her experience as a business woman that include having the very first temporary employment services in Tehama County, Moule has learned lots, which is one of her favorite things about the business she is in, she said. Moule particularly enjoys being able to meet the needs and personal de- mands of every person who walks through the Pine Street doors and being able to do so with compassion as a part of the services offered, she said. She also loves getting to provide employ- ment and on-going new skills with her employees and sharing knowledge she has accumulated over the years. "Each day consists of learning," Moule said, adding that it's important to remember that we all share in each oth- ers' successes and growths. Watching a business grow is a bit like watching one's child as it grows, Moule said. "One who creates a business in its infanthood must steadily nurture it and allow it to grow like a child, while watch- ing and encouraging it to change and mature into adulthood," Moule said. "As life changes, so must the business - be positive, flexible, prepared and eager." To be successful in business, "one must eat, drink, sleep and live the busi- ness," Moule said. It also takes support from one's family. Asked for her best advice for a woman entering business, Moule said "Think like a man, work like a dog and act like a woman." Moule has enjoyed the North State for its caring and supportive community For advertising information contact: Suzy Noble snoble@redbluffdailynews.com (530) 737-5056 Gayla Eckels geckels@redbluffdailynews.com (530) 737-5044 PO Box 885 Red Bluff CA 96080 (530) 527-2151 www.redbluffdailynews.com Facebook: facebook.com/RBDailyNews Twitter: @RedBluffNews
