MARY ELIZABETH BORDERS Miss Mary Elizabeth Borders, 73, of Shelby, NC passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. She was born on December 2, 1946 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Betsy Gwendolyn Hogue and the late J.C. Borders. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Robertson. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Bradley Hogue of Hickory, NC. The funeral service for Miss Borders was pri- vate. The service was livestreamed on Facebook on Friday October 9, 2020. Burial took place at Sunset Cemetery. BETTY JEAN ELMORE BROOME Betty Jean Elmore Broome, 88, of Blacksburg, passed away Wednesday, October 7th, 2020, at her residence. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Dean Haskell Broome and the daughter of the late Henry Wade Elmore and Annie Mae Harris Elmore. Mrs. Broome is survived by two sons, Jeff Broome (Angela) and Edwin Broome (Leslie); one daughter, Marilyn B. Reynolds (Ed); six grandchildren, Susan Kesterson, Justin Broome, Molly Knight, Jesse Broome, Jamie Brown, and Jared Broome; and eleven great- grandchildren. Graveside services were at Clingman Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ed Reynolds officiating. MOZELLE LAIL CROTTS Mozelle Lail Crotts, 95, of Lawndale, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Willow Ridge in Rutherfordton. Born in Cleveland County, on October 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry Preston Lail and Mary Davis Lail. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Franklin Crotts; three broth- ers, Paul Lail, Jessie Lail and Samuel Lail; three sis- ters, Mae Rayfield, Leola Davis and Wilma Pearson. Survivors include one son, Kenny Crotts of Lawndale; three daughters, Colleen Price of Fallston, Mary Sue White of Lawndale and Brenda Champion of Morganton; nine grandchil- dren and ten great grand- children. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 3:00PM at Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Lloyd Hunt and Dr. Dennis Bingham officiat- ing. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Robert and Ann Dixon Blackburn and wife of her late husband of more than fifty years, Lee "Jim" Yarbro. Flora survived her late brothers, Donald, Ray, Walter and Arthur Blackburn and her sisters, Pauline Blackburn and Elizabeth Hollifield. Born in Oklahoma City, she was the widow of Lee Lapham and the daughter of the late Ira Clifton Draper and Vern Lorgan Draper. Mrs. Lapham is survived by one daughter, Tammy Witt of Blacksburg; one brother, William Draper of Vernon, TX; three sisters, Lorene Stinson of Lubbock, TX, Lilliam Barnes of Chilliothe, TX, and LaVerne Draper Rush of Brownsville, CA; one brother-in-law, James Rush, one sister-in- law, Nora Draper, and one son-in-law, Tom Witt; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was pre- ceded in death by her daugh- ters, Kathy and Debbie, and her brothers, Douglas and R.D. Draper. No services are planned at the present time. GLADYS JOHNSON (BEAM) HILL Mrs. Gladys Johnson (Beam) Hill, 77, of Lawndale, NC passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at her residence. She was born on May 21, 1943 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Evelyn Johnson Moore Melton and the late Evens Beam, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hill; two daughters, Susie Boulware Poston and Pastrano "Bo" Keast; two brothers, Evens Beam, Jr. and James Curtis Beam and three sisters, Betty Petty, Rita Melton and Kathy Gee. Born on November 1, 1927 in Shelby North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Carl Maynard Spangler and Fanny Lou Kistler Spangler. In addition to her parents Denice was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Roger Hornsby McKee Sr., and her brother Carl Maynard Spangler Jr. Denice is survived by her son, Roger Hornsby McKee Jr. and wife, Barbara; a sis- ter, Dorothy Ann Spangler; brothers, Austin Donald Spangler and wife, Maxine, Joseph Dale Spangler, and sister-in-law, Faye Spangler, all of Shelby; two grandsons: Bradford David McKee and wife Michelle of Hillsborough, NC and Brian Patrick McKee of Sugar Mountain, NC; and one great-grandson Issac James McKee of Hillsborough, NC. Born in Durham, he was the husband of Barbara Childers and the son of the late Hillard Jeff Endicott and Bonnie Buckles Endicott. Mr. Endicott served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, Mr. Endicott is survived by three nephews and a great-niece. No services are planned at the present time. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bill Anthony; brothers, Carl, Robert, and James Mauney; and sisters, Lois Neill, and Thelma Propst. Survivors include her two grandsons, Zeke Anthony and Evan Anthony; son Alan Anthony and finance Kristie Sanford of Cherryville; sis- ters, Myrtle Clark and Betty Price. EVERETTE ANDREW BLEVINS Everette Andrew Blevins, 70, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Atrium Health - Cleveland. Born in Chester County, PA, on July 17, 1950, he was a son of the late William Andrew Blevins and Melissa Ileen Barker Blevins. Mr. Blevins served our country in the US Army. In addition to his parents he is pre- ceded in death by a brother Kevin Blevins. He is survived by his com- panion, Betty Scism; stepchil- dren, Rick and Rita Stafford, Mark and Phyllis Stafford all of Kings Mountain; Regina and David Bright and Denita and Randy Warren all of Shelby; two brothers, Perry Blevins and Mark Blevins both of Casar; and two sis- ters, Janie Bell of Kings Mountain and Erma Marla Wylie of Cherryville.
