Mon-Thurs: 8am-11pm, Fri-Sat: 8am-5pm, Sun: 2pm-8pm EST A 9-year-old girl recently sponsored a lemonade stand to buy food to give away at Brothers and Sisters in Christ Serving (BASICS) Ministries in Henrietta. Iylah Cole, the daughter of Rev. Brian and Jennifer Cole, set up her lemonade stand at Waters Florist in Forest City for two days recently and raised over $400 in donations. Her sell days were Monday and Saturday and the fresh squeezed lemonade was a big hit for those passing by and supporters from her church, Hicks Grove Baptist, family and other friends. "I just wanted to help," Iylah said. After the successful fundraising drive, Iylah's mother, Jennifer, took her shopping for food. "We bought stuff like spaghetti, cereal, canned food and other things children like," Iylah said. "How amazing is that," said BASICS volunteer Barry Yelton. "She is a young lady with a big heart who loves helping people. She has defi nitely won our hearts," he said. Iylah and her mother are regular Thursday volunteers at BASICS where they pack food boxes for distribution. Iylah enjoys swimming, the movie Titanic, the color blue and 'fatback' and wants to be a school teacher when she grows up. In the meantime, she and her 3-year-old sister, Piper, are awaiting the arrival of a baby brother in February. Brian is the pastor at Hicks Grove Baptist Church. BASICS is a food and clothing ministry in Southern Rutherford County with a decidedly evangelical objective. We serve needy children and adults. The ministry is located at 141 North Main Street in Henrietta. Its mission: To feed the hungry, clothe the needy, and minister in the powerful name of Jesus Christ.
