Stam See VIEWPOINT on 3 There are many battles raging within the Church. The Church has become too much like the world we seek to win. The old saying, "Let your walk match your talk" has little meaning to- day. True followers of Christ, regardless of de- nomination, have a lifestyle that represents our Lord. The lifestyle ingredients include things such as love, kindness, respect, loyalty, hones- ty, and clean living. It is by this that Jesus said, "All men will know that you are my disciples." We must love our leaders even if we disagree. One reason our nation is being overrun by cults, shamed by gay marriage, and inundated by Internet pornography is because Christians have become silent. Ma- ny of our evangelical pas- tors have lost confidence that the Gospel can ac- tively transform the hu- man heart. The spirit of the world and desire to fit in with the 21st Cen- tury culture has led ma- ny to reinvent the sacred Scriptures. As the Church be- Never let the devil deceive you into supposing that God planned sin as "a gracious means to a glorious end," for then salvation from sin would be simple justice, not grace. No, you cannot le- gitimately charge God with your sin. It is to the guilty, the undeserving, far and wide, that God offers "the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace" (Eph. 1:7). There are two significant phrases in Eph. 2 which shed clear light upon the character, the nature, of grace. They are found in Verses 2 and 3, which speak of the unsaved as "children [Gr., huiois, full-grown sons] of disobedience" and "children [Gr., tekna, born ones] of wrath." Meditate for a moment on these phrases: "Chil- dren of disobedience" and "children of wrath."It is against this dark, black background of de- served wrath, that we read further: "BUT GOD, who is RICH IN MERCY, for His GREAT LOVE wherewith He loved us, "Even when we were dead in sins, hath quick- ened us [given us life] together with Christ (BY GR ACE ARE YE SAVED), "And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: "That in the ages to come He might show THE EXCEEDING RICHES OF HIS GR ACE IN HIS KINDNESS TOWARD US THROUGH CHRIST JESUS" (Eph. 2:4-7). Somehow it takes a load off one's heart and mind to come to the end of his rope, as it were, and admit that he is a sinner, deserving God's wrath. How sweet to the ears of such is the won- derful message of redemption by grace, through Well another week has placed itself in the records of time passed. Time is sometimes a friend and sometimes an enemy but one thing is for sure we have to put up with it as it comes and what it brings. I don't always like what it brings but somehow I seem to make it through with God's help. A faithful person is a winner no matter what comes. This week I would like to give my friend Steve Henson a shout-out. Steve was a Controls Person but in the shuffle we had when we were bought out he ended up being a mechanical millwright team leader. You would never know that he had switched crafts because he was smart about me- chanics and if he didn't know he listened and found out. A good mechanic remembers what it takes to accomplish a task and Steve had a good memory and was able to remember many things that some of us had forgotten. I always appreciated working with Steve and I sure pray for blessings for Steve and his family. Pike County seemed to be doing great at keeping the Covid virus at bay but it seems as though it is trying to raise its ugly head. I hear of friends being sick with it and the only thing you and I can do for them is pray they will be able to weather the storm this illness puts you through. I am surprised that there aren't even more cases of it because if you think about it we are all probably exposed to it more often than we would like to think. It is scary but most peo- ple survive so please be careful as possible and try not to become a statistic. A fter thinking about it this will be a hard year for doctors because the common cold and the influenza have similar symptoms so they will have a few more procedures to run and your vis- its will probably be a little longer. Let's talk about the Lions club cleaning the side of the roadway on Meridian road. Last Fri- day morning we spent about an hour and a half picking up trash. We found an old toilet seat, a big chunk of roof and many beer cans. Just for fun what brand of beer did we find empty cans of. There was three or four regular Budweiser, One Keystone, about thirteen Bud lites and at Continued on page 2 CHURCH CHURCH Notes Notes Notes Baptist Baptist RIVER OF LIFE 342 E. CR 300 N. When someone hurts us deeply, it isn't easy to look past the offense and into the offend- er's heart. But that is exactly what God does for us, and he want us to do the same for oth- ers. More often than not, we will discover the offender drowning in their own sea of hurt and de- spair. They, too, need a great measure of love. We should give AYRSHIRE VALLEY G.B. CHURCH 1947 E. Co.
