The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, August 21, 2020 20 By Rachel Jones TV Media Ten-minute laughs: The proverbial cloud with a silver lining takes on a hilarious new form in "Nice One!," a new comedy show by actor, comedian and writer Ron Funches ("Trolls," 2016), premiering Monday, Aug. 24, on Quibi. "Nice One" is a contest between four come- dians who must try to say something nice about some pretty bad subjects in the sweetest, most considerate and cleverest of ways. Quibi, a short-form streaming service founded by former Disney and DreamWorks top guy Jeffrey Katzenberg ("Shrek," 2001), is designed to provide view- ers with movie-quality shows structured for mobile phones, with new episodes streaming every day. The comedian host has a long history as a voice actor in many different animated series and films, such as "Ad- venture Time" and "Bob's Burgers." He's also appeared in multiple TV shows, includ- ing "The Goldbergs," "Pow- erless," "Conan," "The To- night Show" and more. Some of his TV writing cred- its include the series "The Eric Andrew Show" and "Kroll Show." His current projects in- clude "Ron Funches' Giggle Fit," a one-hour stand-up special on Comedy Central, and the 2019 feature film "Jexi." Speaking of Comedy Cen- tral, one of its silliest shows is making a comeback, and Quibi will be hosting that, too. "Reno 911!," which aired for the first time in 2003 and ran for six years, is premiering on the innovative streamer. Thomas Lennon ("17 Again," 2009), Niecy Nash ("Scream Queens") and more are returning for the reboot, and while it's not exactly a reality series, it does pretend to be. Since "Cops" has been canceled, this is the next best thing (we would argue it's far better).
