B-4 Wednesday, August 12, 2020 The Press-Dispatch The war of ideas is fought in the classroom. It is here that absolute truth, the Bible, and values are destroyed. Chris- tians should be serious about protecting the minds and hearts of our children. In my opinion, children should learn discipline, values, respect and honesty while they are learning math, science and other important facts. If we are to change America we must put God back in our schools. The Ten Command- ments never caused shootings in our schools or drug addic- tion. Parents need to be in- formed and involved in the future of our beloved Ameri- ca. Be sure to vote against an- ti-God socialism. VIEWPOINT Continued from page 2 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 2 because I haven't replaced any of it for a long time. I believe it's time to spring for a new mower. People at Velpen General Baptist were still busy, so we didn't have church there Sun- day. We attended Cup Creek church where we heard a good sermon from Bro. Jeff on learning about God and His Son Jesus so we may be affec- tive teachers for our friends. If you don't know how to wit- ness to your friends using scripture then be a friend to them and as you can explain to them what God has done for you and how He has affect- ed your walk. Once again your walk as a Christian will show your love and devotion to be- ing under His guidance. Never forget to love one an- other and always be a blessing to those around you. God will bless you for your love. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the KABOODLE Nazarene Pentecostal Wesleyan Presbyterian "I have learned a lot from my kitten. When life is loud and scary, go under the bed and nap. When you want someone to notice you, sit on the book that person is reading. And if someone sits in your chair, glare at them until they move"—Unknown. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a conniving young kitten named Kaboodle, who is very mischievous and can often be found looking for her play mice under the sink at PAWS. Sunday morning service 10 :15 a.m.; Sunday school at 11 a.m. We are back having Sunday services. As we listen and look around, we know that we are living in devastating times. I believe in the pow- er of prayer and I think that the body of Christ as a whole is falling short. God moves when we pray according to His Word. It is time for the body as a whole to begin a prayer regiment with a fer- vency. The word states in James 5:16 that the effectu- al fervent prayer of a righ- teous man availeth much (has much power). So let us begin prayer and begin to see change. I believe it pos- sible, do you? Keep our president, vice-president and the cabi- net in your prayers that the right decisions will be made. Remember those in hospitals and nursing homes, who are in a place of no family or OAKLAND CITY FIRST PENTECOST Hwy. 64 East Sunday morning service 9:30 a.m. with children's Sun- day school during the minis- try of the Word; Wednesday and Sunday evening services at 6 p.m. All services are CDT (Gibson Co. times). We will be having a revival August 27-29, at 6 p.m. CDT with the Cline Family. To be able to hear from God you must first reverence Him, then recognize Him (my sheep know my voice), and then respond. No parent keeps speaking to a child who will not respond. Samuel, as a child said, "speak Lord, your servant hears you." Your ticket is stamped On a train trip, a pastor struck up a conversation with a seat mate who thought char- acter and good works led to sal- vation. The pastor wasn't mak- ing progress but had a realiza- tion when the conductor collect- ed tickets, quickly checking the date before stamping each one. A fter the conductor passed by, the pastor told his fellow passenger: "All the conduc- tor looked at was your ticket. He did not inquire about your character. He didn't care who you were — whether you were a good or moral man or a crim- inal. So it is with salvation. You need only God's 'ticket to heav- en' stamped by the blood of Je- sus Christ."
