JULY 2010 – It's A Good Life Single Groups After the death or divorce of a spouse, one deals not only with personal bereave- ment, but also with new dilemmas in almost every aspect of life. Employment, financial and legal affairs, housing arrangements, and even meal preparation are all situa- tions that present new chal- lenges for both the men and women. In handling these altered circumstances, many people around the country are find- ing an important source of support and guidance in voluntary support programs, which put them in touch with others who have them- selves, experienced similar situations. The Cleveland County Council on Aging/Senior Center has both a Ladies Support Group for persons 55 years of age or older. These groups provide a vari- ety of programs that deal with such topics as caring for your car, depression, cooking for one, self-protection and health information. It is a great way to learn new stuff and socialize with people in your community. Coping with life after the death or divorce of a loved one becomes even more dif- ficult as one realizes and deals with unfamiliar activities and loneliness. If you are alone in Cleveland County, you are welcome to become a part of the learning and growing process we offer. The Ladies Group meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Senior Center at 11:30 for lunch. The Men’s group meets second Thursday of each month at 2:30 at the COA/Senior Center. Please bring a friend to the meet- ings with you. For further information please call Kathy Cobb at the Senior Center at 704- 482-3488.
