PIKE COUNTY YARD SALE Petersburg couple arrested for domestic battery By James Capozella An early Sunday morning call to Central Dispatch result- ed in domestic battery charges for both Joy Pomeroy, 22, of 406 N. 12th St. Petersburg, and Brian K. Cassidy, Jr., 24, of 4890 N. Park Lane, Peters- burg. Pike County Sheriff Dep- uty Jared Simmons, Indiana State Trooper Brayden Anger- meier and Petersburg Patrol- man Bryce Manning became involved in locating Cassidy af- ter Pomeroy told dispatch her boyfriend had slapped her, re- sulting in swollen lips and an injured neck. Before officers arrived at 158 N. Whitelock Ave., Apt. #1, the location of the battery, Cassidy had left on foot. Manning arrived at the res- idence and was speaking to Pomeroy while Trooper Anger- meier and Deputy Simmons at- tempted to locate Cassidy. Cas- sidy was eventually contact- ed by phone and said he was on his way back to the resi- dence. Simmons located Cas- sidy walking along Whitelock Ave. He placed him in hand- cuffs and read him his Miran- da Warnings. When interviewing Cassi- dy, Simmons noticed fresh scratches on his neck and face and he said they could have come from Pomeroy. Cassidy said he woke her for her medi- cation and she "flipped out" on him. He said she had hit him in the face on his left side, ac- cording to the report. When asked if he and Pomeroy were married, he stated that they were. Simmons reported that Cassidy said he did not put his hands on her at any point. While Trooper Angermei- er stayed with Cassidy, Pa- trolman Manning and Deputy Simmons spoke with Pomeroy inside the apartment. Pomeroy said she had "called him out" on something and that he had slapped her a few times in the face, and pushed hard enough on her neck that it popped and was sore. Deputy Simmons ad- vised Pomeroy that since both she and Cassidy had physical marks, both of them would be getting charged. Trooper Man- ning transported Pomeroy to the Pike County Jail and Sim- mons transported Cassidy.
