He was born April 10, 1954, in Huntingburg, to Robert Lee and Carol Ann (Roettger) As- trike. He worked at The Waters of Huntingburg for 10 years and retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions, where he worked 18 years. He graduat- ed from Holland High School, was a cat enthusiast, and en- joyed gardening, playing the piano and writing poems. He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Manning, of Winslow; and three grand- children, Jalah Barnes, Ry- lan Manning-Gadberry and Brynlee Manning, all of Pe- tersburg. He was preceded in death by his mother on May 26, 2018; his father on January 23, 2005; and one grandson, Jaden Edward Barnes, on Ju- ly 10, 1998. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. EDT on Monday, July 20, 2020, at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Burial followed at Fairmount Ceme- tery in Huntingburg. Alan Bennett 70, of Oak- land City, entered rest at his home in Oakland City. He was born on Jan. 18, 1949, in Evansville. He was a 52-year member of the I.B.E.W. Local #16. He is survived by two sons and two daughters; mother, Dorothy Georges, of Oakland City; brothers, Terry Bennett, of Oakland City, Greg Ben- nett, of Mackey; sisters, Dar- lene (Steve) Wright, of Prince- ton, Janelle Byers, of Oakland City, and Michelle Vickers, of Mackey; and several nieces and nephews. "Super Dave" Shawhan, 81, of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at home follow- ing an illness. He was born on January 5, 1939, in Pike County, to George and Mable (Henke) Shawhan. A Celebration of Life will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Ju- ly 26, 2020, at the Princeton Country Club in Princeton. A Masonic Service will be at 3 p.m. ROBERT PHILLIPY Robert "Bob" Phillipy, 98, of Jasper, passed away at 3:44 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020, at the Northwood Retirement Center in Jasper. He was born July 16, 1922, near Velpen, to Claude and Eva (Robinson) Phillipy. He graduated from Otwell High School on April 19, 1941, and served in the South Pacif- ic with the United States Coast Guard. He married Flora Schwartz on May 1, 1948, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Bretzville, where he was an ac- tive member for many years. He was a member of the Amer- ican Legion Post #147, and en- joyed cards, being outside, family gatherings and work- ing Sudoku puzzles. He re- tired from the Indiana Desk Factory after 43 years as a moulder operator. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Flora Phillipy, of Jas- per; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Garnet Cauble. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the Nass & Son Funer- al Home in Huntingburg with Dan Sergesketter officiating. Burial followed at Bretzville Cemetery in Bretzville. Visitation was from noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
