Apostolic Tabernacle Vacation Bible School TOP SECRET LOCATION: 409 S 4th Street Petersburg SPY MEETING TIME: July 29-31 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. MT. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH 6100 S. Augusta Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m.; children's Sunday school during morning wor- ship; youth at 6 p.m. on Sun- day evening. We are having services, but we are practicing social distance. "Let the peace of God rule in your hearts" (Colossians 3:15). Science has confirmed what the Bible taught centuries ago: There is a close relation- ship between our minds and bodies. Proverbs puts it this way: "A cheerful heart is good medicine but a crushed spir- it dries up the bones" (Prov- erbs 17:22). There is also a close rela- tionship between our men- tal and physical health, and the health of our spiritu- al lives. Guilt, fear, jealousy, bitterness, futility, escapism and these, and a host of oth- er problems are spiritual ills, brought about by the disease of sin. Like poison, they can sicken us in mind and body. But when Christ comes in- to our lives, He removes our guilt and takes away our fears. He gives us love for others and a new purpose in life. His joy and peace neutralize sin's poi- son, and that promotes emo- tional and physical health. If at any time you have no church to attend, your pres- ence will be greatly appreciat- ed and I am sure you will leave feeling blessed. Fr. Frank Renner, Pastor Rev. Mark Wade, Deacon Catholic FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH 1400 E. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service at 10 :30 a.m. Reflections of Psalm 8 What is the first thing that comes out of your mouth on a daily basis? I have been thinking about this for a while now. I don't want to get stuck down a prosperity gospel rabbit hole, but I be- lieve the first things we think about, reflect on, and speak in the morning will guide and determine our day. If the first thing out of our mouth is how horrible today will be, then today may be horrible. If the first thing we think about is the sin in our heart, we will spend the day captive by sin, instead of taking ev- ery thought captive. I love the Psalms, I love reflecting on David and the other Psalmists words to God. Sometimes the Psalms are a pendulum swing of emotion. But many of us can open the psalms and find one we can resonate with. What I love about Psalm 8 is it de- clares, poetically the glory of God as the writer looks over creation. I believe when we open our mouths from the time we wake up, to the time we lay down, to proclaim the glory of God, it would change the entire outlook of our days and our lives. DJ Bryant, Pastor VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. State Rd. 56 Sunday morning worship and the Lord's supper at 9:30 a.m.; Sunday school at 10 :30 a.m.; evening worship at 6:30 p.m. This Sunday, we will have a food and fellowship time, fol- lowing the evening service. We will be meeting in accordance to social distancing and with face masks. You are invited to wor- ship with us. Think It Through continues If "Faith Alone" is a whole- some doctrine and very full of comfort, why did James say, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone" ( James 2:17)? If God has promised to save men regardless of the kind of faith they have, why did Paul make it so plain that, "there is one faith" (Ephesians 4:4-6)? Because He lives.
