It begins at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. Block after block from the top of the hill all down Main Street there are fun and games, meet and greet, and plenty to see, buy and eat. There's plenty of activity on the side streets also. This event keeps getting better and bigger. Let's simply say, it's a gigantic family fun day! New this year will be Drs. Blanton, Miller, Moore and Toney will let you "Dunk Your Dentist" for Relay for Life! Yes, you can really make a splash and dunk these guys. In addition to the kiddie rides, the R-S Central Band will have a climbing wall and great activities for the young folk. On stage in front of the courthouse two of Rutherford County's favorite bands will perform. At 11 a.m. "The Flying Saucers" take the stage and at 3 p.m."The Folsom Prison Gang" will put great music in the air. Don't forget the ROC Equestrian Group's live pony rides and make sure to bring your camera for that "keepsake photo". Rutherfordton's Women's League will sponsor the first ever Color Run helping the Communities in Schools Program. Always a very big event is the ROC Gears and Gables Annual Bike Ride! The list of fun filled events, the smell of roasted corn, homemade fries, roasted turkey legs as well as the great taste of fried pies and great drinks make it a special event. It truly is a festival of fun, food, and friendship. Lots of pets will be parading up and down the street. Examples of handmade crafts will be on going and unique things you can only find at Mayfest will be available. For the very best of family fun, you won't want to miss this great annual event.
