An online guest registry is available at www.harrelson- funeralhome.com YVONNE WITHERSPOON Yvonne Witherspoon, 80, of Rockingham went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven after defeating her long battle with cancer. She was born April 25, 1940 in Richmond County, a daugh- ter of the late Earnest Eli and Louise Goodman Chappell. Mrs. Witherspoon was a faithful member of Cartledge Creek Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC. Her favorite ministries she participated in was the Prayer Quilt Ministry and Operation Christmas Child. Throughout her years, she worked at JP Stevens, Walmart, and she also owned her own shoe store in Shelby. Yvonne was also a former licensed CNA and realtor, and served as a foster parent. Surviving, her husband of 65 years, Gerald Witherspoon of the home in Rockingham; Sons, Wayne Witherspoon (Cindy) of Shelby, NC, David Witherspoon (Regina) of Rockingham, and John Witherspoon of the home; Sister, Brenda Watts (Mickey) of Bolles Harbor, Michigan. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chance Witherspoon (Colleen) of Shelby, Brian Witherspoon (Victoria) of Rockingham, April Witherspoon, and Justin Witherspoon (Erin) of Shelby, and 8 great grand- children Kelton, Sawyer, Miah, Graeme, Elayna, Lily, Conner, and Maggie Witherspoon. Due to COVID-19 a pri- vate family funeral service was held at Cartledge Creek Baptist Church. ESSIE MARIE FOSTER Essie Marie Foster, 95, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on June 23, 2020 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Charles Meek and Martha Jane Weaver Foster and was preceded in death by her sisters, Minnie Styers, Bessie Crawford and Mary Ann Foster. Survivors are Caregivers: Nephew, Danny Neil Crawford; Niece, Ann Crawford Keener; Several Nieces, Great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. RAY WALLACE Ray Wallace, 85, of Union Mills, passed away June 21, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. He was born on July 19, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late Guy and Bertha Wallace of Union Mills. He was predeceased by his first wife, Orene Wallace and later in life by his second wife Becky Wallace. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Mahaffey, and brothers, Otho Wallace and Steve Wallace. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Elliott of Rutherfordton, and Tammy Smiley (Andy) of Boiling Springs, S.C.; two sons Gary Wallace (Sherry) of Union Mills and Larry Wallace of Maiden. Stepchildren include Lynn Dowis (Mark) of Buffalo, SC, Sharon Moon of Pinnacle, NC, and Gary Rogers (Nancy) of Travelers Rest, SC; Three sisters Carol Wall of Union Mills, TODD BLANTON Todd Blanton, age 48, of Ellenboro, passed on Sunday, June 21, 2020. Todd was born August 23, 1971 in Rutherford County, to Ronald Lee Blanton and Phyllis Terry Blanton, of Six Points. Todd loved God and was of the Baptist faith, he loved fishing, camping, four wheeling, NASCAR and the Carolina Panthers. Todd was a very caring, selfless loving father and brother and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martha "Maw T" and Bill Terry, Grady and Blanche Blanton. In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lori Hoyle Blanton of the home; daughter, Camilla Blanton of Mooresboro; step- daughter, Elizabeth Bradley; step-son, John Bradley of Ellenboro; sister, April Webb of Ellenboro, and a former brother-in-law Wayne Webb; grandchildren, Gracie Blanton, Brylan Brittain, John Dean Bradley; nieces, Morgan and Olivia Webb. He was born on June 20, 1932 in Mecklenburg Co., a son of the late Richard and Myrtle Mae Hampton McRorie. He was the owner of Petroleum Tank Service and was a vet- eran of the US Army serv- ing during Korea. Richard enjoyed Facebook, talking politics, fishing, and his family. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Turner. CATHEY PRITCHARD NOELL Kings Mountain - Cathey Pritchard Noell of Kings Mountain, NC passed away June 24. Born August 25, 1955, in Charlotte to Evelyn and Hugh Pritchard and raised in Plaza- Midwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Pritchard. Cathey is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ellis; brother Danny Pritchard and sisters, Sandra Schipman and Gaye Barger all of Mint Hill, NC; daughter Meagan Noell-Teasley of Shelby and son Hugh Ellis "Bubba" Noell, IV, of Kings Mountain, NC and granddaughters Alice and Evelyn "Evie" Teasley. JOHN CHRISTOPHER WILLETT John Christopher Willett, 44, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on June 24, 2020 at Atrium Pineville, NC. GODOFREDO "FREDDY" PEREZ Godofredo "Freddy" Perez, age 74, of Shelby, passed away, Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. Godofredo was born September 8, 1945 in Guatemala to the late Albino Perez and Elisa Leiva Perez. He was the owner and opera- tor of Freddy's Small Engine Repair in Ellenboro for many years. Freddy loved to cook special dishes for his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty-two years, Addy Perez; seven daughters, Cindy Munoz, Brenda Giron, Shirley Gonzalez, Monica Almaraz, Anna Deaton, Mariam Guerra and Nancy Valdez; two sisters and one brother. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A private family gathering to honor Freddy's life will be held. MIKEL WOFFORD McDANIEL Mikel Wofford McDaniel "Mike", 67, passed away peacefully at his home on June 20, 2020. He was born March 18, 1953 in Rutherford County the only child of Columbus McDaniel and Alice Hammett McDaniel. At age 2, his family moved to Chicago, Illinois. When asked why he moved there, he'd say he followed the food. After graduation, he worked at Central National Bank in Chicago. Later, he returned to Rutherford County with his parents. His love for the outdoors led him to work in residential construction for various companies. He was lovingly known as the win- dow man. Mike is well known as "Catdaddy" in the world of beach music. He host- ed many radio shows for WNCW at ICC, WGWG at GWU, and last at WSGE He was born in Greenville, TN. Chris was preceded in death by his father, John B. Willett. He was an avid wrestling fan and wrestled with a local organization in the Kings Mountain area. Chris loved bowling, singing in church and was an accomplished bass guitar player. He loved his mother dearly and enjoyed spending time with his sister Margaret. Chris will be missed greatly by his lov- ing family and friends. JOHN BREWTON Mr. John Brewton, 81, of 1820 Kingston Road Kingstown, NC passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Peak Resources in Gastonia, NC. He was born in Cleveland County, NC on November 21, 1938 to the late Nathaniel Brewton and Norsis Petty Brewton. Johnny was employed at Cone Mills of Cliffside, NC. He was the lead tenor singer for the Silver Star- Lite Quartet of Shelby, NC. Johnny loved to travel with his family to many differ- ent amusement parks and museums. In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by three brothers, Ivory Brewton, Earnest Brewton and Hubert Brewton and two sisters, Velma M. Brewton and Thelma Brewton. He leaves to cherish fond and lasting memories to his wife of 55 years, Betty Chambers Brewton; two daughters, Laura Brewton, and Janice Whisnant (Arthur) both of Shelby; one son, Johnny P. Brewton (Constance) of SC; one step-daughter, Patricia Chambers Wiley of Durham, NC; one sister, Ester M. Smith of Shelby; two broth- ers, Willie Brewton of Shelby and Raymond Brewton (Priscilla) of Lawndale, NC; ten grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
