Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower others to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feathers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristo- tle's mantra, "It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Jim has self-published his first literary work en tled, "Unredacted," and can be purchased on Amazon, Barnres and Noble, and Ebay. Welcome to the July issue of Diversity Rules Maga- zine. It is hard to believe we are entering the second half of this crazy year already. However, its passing will not be one any of us will feel any remorse over. The sooner 2020 leaves, the be er, and hopefully, 2021 will be a much calmer and sedate year, with a new Democra c President, and a vaccine for Covid- 19. Time will tell, but we must all remain vigilant, calm, and as op mis c as we can be. It will be what will get us through these very trying mes we are liv- ing through right now. The July issue features Dwight Allen O'Neal Dwight is a mul -talented industrialist with a strong por o- lio of varied speaking engagements and a wealth of knowledge (from entertainment, beauty, or entre- preneurship). Dwight has a new book out, as well. It's been said that our mistakes are the sculptors that shape who we are. In Dwight's new book Shoulda! Coulda! Woulda! he explores some of his own missteps, and reflects on how they have affected his personal journey. In a series of vigne es ranging from lighthearted to trau- ma c, Dwight lets you know what happened, what he was thinking, and how each experience changed his life. Diversity Rules Magazine welcomes Dwight. I hope you enjoy his feature interview and consider buying his book, as well. I am sure Dwight would apprciate it. Tell him Diversity Rules sent ya! This issue has some great stuff in it, as well. Included in this month's issue are our regular columnists who you have come to love and enjoy -- Tony Guadagnino, as well as Lee Lynch. They both always have very in- spiriing ar cles that upli and empower the soul. This month also welcomes back Brian Foley with a new ar cle en tled, "How Can I Reinvent Myself?" Brian speaks of the current pandemic and considers the ways we can emerge stronger and be er from our confinement and quaran ne. It should also be noted this past month of June was the 5th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that legalized same-sex marriage in America. A pro- found and exhilara ng moment that surely was and one that will never be forgo en by those of us who fought hard and long to make it all a reality, culmiat- ing with the court's decision. June also brought a new court decision with pro- found impacts on the Queer community. The court stated that the employment discrimina on against LGBTQ persons was illegal. Anohter very exci ng moment in queer history that will not be forgo en any me soon. Last we have an elec on coming up in November. One that will change the course of our na on to a be er direc on with the elec on of Joe Biden as President. There is no doubt that Donald Trump must go. He is a menace, and simply seeks to divide and cause chaos in America, which he has quite successfully done the last 3.5+ years. We need to vote him out. VOTE peo- ple. Vote, Vote Vote. See you in August! My Two Cents A Message From The Editor James R. Koury, Editor/Publisher Diversity Rules Magazine | July 2020 | 3
