Entertainment Now | June 27 - July 3, 2020 By Amelia Ellis TV Media Baby boom: If you were a fan of TLC's "19 Kids and Count- ing," then you are probably aware that those Duggars are all grown up. But we can still follow their journey as TLC has re- newed their new show, "Count- ing On," for another season, which premieres Tuesday, June 30. "Counting On" has been fol- lowing the famous Duggar chil- dren as they grow up, get mar- ried, have babies and experience tragedy, joy and life in general in a huge family. The show pre- miered back in 2015 after "19 Kids and Counting" was can- celed. The show kicks off with a one- hour special as Jessa and her family find new ways to enter- tain their kids during life in quar- antine. But what should we ex- pect to see the rest of this sea- son? Babies, babies and more ba- bies! After suffering miscarriag- es in 2019, both Joy-Anna and Jinger are pregnant again. There is a string of grandchildren mak- ing their debuts, and we'll be able to see all of their cute baby faces this year. Jill's husband, Derick, who left the show in 2018 due to con- troversial tweets, has been re- vealing family secrets lately, and he is reportedly not allowed to visit the Duggar's Arbor Acres home without permission from parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. With his wife, Jill, un- able to see her family at will, how will the surmounting ten- sion affect the many upcoming reasons for the family to cele- brate? Maybe we'll finally see them resolve their differences and come together. Catch up with Jinger and Jere- my, Jessa and Ben, Joy and Aus- tin and all of the other branches of the Duggar family when Sea- son 11 of "Counting On" pre- mieres Tuesday, June 30, on TLC. Renovation redo: Ever have that home-improvement mo- ment when you realize you may have gone too far without get- ting the help you need? Well, HGTV has a show for that. "Help, I Wrecked My House" rolls out this summer, and audi- ences can't wait to see host Jas- mine Roth ("Rock the Block") fix DIY home renovation disas- ters when it premieres Wednes- day, July 1. Audiences get to see Jasmine and her team help homeowners bring new life to attempted ren- ovations that didn't work out the way they wanted them to. In true Roth fashion, she brings both beauty and practicality to her designs. This new show comes on the heels of her big hit last year, "A Very Brady Renovation," which drew audiences in part for the nostalgia, and in part for design- ers like Roth, who brought their style to the landmark home from the '70s sitcom "The Brady Bunch." The HGTV star and home-ren- ovation expert recently released her digital series "New Addi- tion: Jasmine Roth," which fol- lows her journey through preg- nancy, so "Help, I Wrecked My Home" comes at an exciting time for the skilled renovator. You can tune in to the new se- ries when it airs Wednesday, July 1, on HGTV. Escape to freedom: On a more somber note, HBO is roll- ing out a new documentary this summer that will both captivate audiences and inspire courage. As the U.S. continues its own struggle against discrimination, other countries are undertaking the mission to expel prejudice and institutional injustice. For many, that initiative can feel more like a war. "Welcome to Chechnya" premieres Tuesday, June 30, on HBO, and the eye- opening program will change you. The documentary follows ac- tivists in the Russian Republic of Chechnya, where the govern- ment has embarked on a "torture campaign" against the LGBTQA+ community. The trailer alone is alarming — it immediately dives in with a call from a young wom- an named Anya, who is fearful of her uncle. He just found out her sexual orientation, and she now believes he will kill her. Viewers are taken on a harrow- ing journey as activists try to get persecuted individuals out of the country and on to safety without getting caught. We're exposed to shocking footage of abductions and assaults, and are even intro- duced to deniers of the crimes. With Chechnya building mass de- tention centers to aid with the purging of LGBTQA+ people from the country, this documentary is an urgent cry for help. "Welcome to Chechnya" makes the atrocities happening there impossible to ignore and explicitly shows that the terror is state-sanctioned. Ramzan Kady- rov, leader of the Chechen Re- public, condones the so-called cleansing and has so far denied the very existence of the LG- BTQA+ community, stating that when someone who fits the bill is found, they are immediately taken away.
