Born in Cleveland County, on October 25, 1951, she was a daughter of Vergie Bingham Helms of Lawndale and the late William "Bill Reese Helms, Sr. Teresa was a graduate of Burns High School and then attended nursing school in Charlotte to obtain her RN. She would work as a RN for over forty years until her loss of vision made her retire. Teresa loved the beach and she and her sister would make many weekend trips to the beach. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her brother, Billy Helms and sister, Jan Helms. In addition to her mother she is survived by a nephew Alan Dedmon and girlfriend, Tina Stallings, and two great nephews, Alec and Gavin Dedmon. A celebration of life service was held June 15, 2020, at 2:00 PM in the Stamey- Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Blanton and Rev. Travis Mull officiating. GEORGETTE BEECKMAN ATKINS Georgette Beeckman Atkins, age 80, passed away June 12, 2020 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain. THOMAS EDWARD JOSEPH HAGERTY Thomas Edward Joseph Hagerty, age 52, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Atrium Healthcare, Kings Mountain, NC. Tom was born on June 22,1968 in Alabama. At age four, Tom joined the Hagerty family and was christened Thomas Edward Joseph Hagerty. Tom grew up in Alaska, Texas, Minnesota and North Carolina. Tom settled in the Gastonia NC area, where he had various different jobs and developed many friends. Tom enjoyed people and found strength in his faith. Tom was joyful, with great energy and enthusiasm for living. He is survived by his moth- er Rita and siblings and their families Pat, JP, Chris, Kelley and Trace. No services are planned at this time. STACEY DAWN BALL Stacey Dawn Ball, 28, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2020. Stacey was born in Cleveland County NC. She was predeceased in death by paternal grand- parents William Frankie Ball and Diane Marie Ball, aunt Jessica Diane Ball and grandfather Harry Martin. She was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and was employed as a certified nursing assistant. CECIL REID Cecil Reid, age 92, of Forest City, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at his residence. Cecil was born December 24, 1927 in Sarles, NC to the late Charles Reid and Nellie Walker Reid. He was a graduate of Cando High School, class of 1945 and received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota. Cecil served his country in the U.S. Army following the end of World War II. He and his late wife owned and operated the Carolina Business Services of Spindale for thirty-three years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Rosalie "Lee" Wisler Reid; a daughter, Debra Eileen Reid; great-grandson, Logan Shahan; a son-in-law, Woody Shahan; two sisters and six brothers. Survivors include his loving daughters, Sandra Shahan of Spindale, and Jody Heffernan (Dale) of Wichita, KS; brother, Raymon Reid of Chinook, Montana; eight grandchildren, Robert Shahan (Jessica), Melissa Hutchins (Matt), Stephen Shahan (Christina), Rebecca Godby (Kenneth), Ben Heffernan (Elizabeth), Abigail Townsend (Jared), Marcus Heffernan (Olivia) and Candace Stevenson (Aaron); and twenty great- grandchildren. Born in Brussels, Belgium on April 3, 1940, Georgette was the daughter of the late George and Josephina Beeckman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joel Dean Atkins and a daughter, Patricia Hawkins. Georgette enjoyed mur- der mysteries. Her fam- ily remembers her fondly starting her mornings with her coffee and bagels. She loved spending time going shopping with her daughters and would stay out all day. Georgette was affectionate- ly known as Grandma and loved spoiling her grandchil- dren.
