I have been thinking about this for a while now. I don't want to get stuck down a prosperi- ty gospel rabbit hole, but I believe the first things we think about, reflect on, and speak in the morning will guide and determine our day. If the first thing out of our mouth is how horrible to- day will be, then today may be horrible. If the first thing we think about is the sin in our heart, we will spend the day captive by sin, instead of taking every thought cap- tive. I love the Psalms, I love reflecting on David and the other Psalmists words to God. Sometimes the Psalms are a pendulum swing of emotion. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with gladness'" (II Samuel 6:12). David is genuinely happy for the blessing that Obed- Edom has received from God, and sees the blessing as a sign that God is not an- gry with Israel for moving the ark closer to Jerusalem. It was initially left there due to fear and anger. The intent of moving the ark to Jerusalem wasn't to diminish the blessing to one person, but to increase it for all the people of Israel, in- cluding Obed-Edom, by fol- lowing God's Will, placing it in the city where it was sup- posed to be, as determined by the casting of lots in the days of Joshua. The verse should remind us to be happy for others when they receive a bless- ing from God, and share our blessings from God with others. The greatest bless- ing we could ever have is the presence of the Lord in our lives. Sharing Him through our attitudes and actions can bless others and lead them to open the door for a con- versation about what a rela- tionship with the Lord can be like.
