C. O'Hair A church culture without absolutes Religious Viewpoint By Clyde Dupin See MINUTES on 3 See R AMBLINGS on 3 Continued on page 2 No minister of Christ who is a faithful steward of the mysteries of God (1 Cor. 4:1-4) would, during this age and dispen- sation of grace, preach water baptism un- to repentance for the remission of sins, as did John the Baptist. Nor would such a min- ister preach for today Acts 2:38, "Repent, and be baptized..for the remission of sins." No Bible-taught evangelist led by the Ho- ly Spirit would tell a sinner seeking eternal life to keep the commandments and sell his property, as Christ on earth told the man in Luke 18:18 -26. Nor should he or any oth- er Christian preacher tell the people to sell all their houses and lots and personal prop- erty and place the proceeds in the hands of the preacher, as was done in Acts 2:44,45 and 4:34,35. No "grace" messenger of the Lord is told to raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, preach "The kingdom of heaven is at hand," and journey without cash, as Christ instructed His apostles in Matthew 10 :5 -9. "Grace" messengers know the differ- ence between Matthew 6:15, 18:23-25, and Ephesians 4:32, forgiving a fellow-man as the condition for God's forgiveness and for- giving in the Name of Christ because we are already forgiven by God for Christ's sake. No "grace" messenger today expects an- Baptist Baptist Almost every denomination is facing problems which are complex and hard to understand. Young people are leaving the faith and religious traditions of their par- ents. This is a new phenomenon, especial- ly in America. These many changes should be of re- al concern to the church. I have spent 60 years in full-time ministry and have seen denomination after denomination hi-jacked by liberal leaders who appear on the scene and assume places of leadership. The problem stems from both our public edu- cation schools and once religious colleg- es and Universities. Many things relating to God and the absolutes of the Bible have disappeared. Emerg- ing in the Protestant church is an over em- phasis on tolerance. The Bible is no lon- ger the absolute true revelation of God. In the Catholic Church, we see a great accep- tance of abortion and liberation theology among non-practic- ing Catholics. Many of the long held tradi- tional absolutes are questioned by the mil- lennial generation. Young people are in- This week's shout out goes to Kenny Bea- sley. Like everyone else at the plant, Ken- ny had a nickname and his was Boz. He worked with operations and he was good at figuring out flow patterns and lock-out points. Whenever we had a maintenance job to perform on any equipment, he was a great man to have it ready and as safe as possible to work on. He had a way of putting on his hard hat and rushing to see about things. It was almost like he sort of leapt into his hat and if you were going with him, you had better be ready to go in a hurry. I worked with Kenny for many years and always enjoyed helping him. I wish him and his family good blessings and good cheer. Community ba- by shower is our next com- munity event and will occur this Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to noon (CDT). The community baby shower is perfect for expectant moth- ers and for newborns up to two years of age. This is our first year for the baby show- er and we're very excited about hosting such a won- derful event. Wednesday evening activ- ities are back. Each Wednes- day, we will have multiple activities for children: a new summer activity called "Surf's Up" for ages three to fifth grade; and for the old- er kids, sixth grade will re- sume with a very popular activity from last summer called "RC 4 JC." Both age groups start at 6 p.m. CDT. Adults, we are not leav- ing you out. Each Wednes- day, while the children are busy with their activity, we will be setting up our out- reach events and we could use your help. This Wednes- day will be set-up for the community baby shower. If you would like to volunteer and help, we would love to see you. Again, everything starts at 6 p.m. CDT. When the last penny is gone before the last bill is paid? What are we doing? Nibbling on nails like corn on the cob. Pacing floors. Taking pills. But what does God do? He fights for us. He steps into the ring, points us to our corner and takes over. "Remain calm; the Lord will fight for you" (Exodus 14:14). His job is to fight. Our job is to trust. Just trust. Not direct or question. Our job is to pray and wait. If at any time you have no church to attend, your pres- ence will be greatly appreci- ated and I know you will feel God's blessings.
