Gene was born July 18, 1940 in Henrietta, NC to the late Willie Grayson Crawford and Mary Teseniar Crawford. Gene, also known as Dad, Daddy Rabbit, Papa, and Pee Paw, spent his entire life pro- viding for his wife and family. His generosity of heart led many to call him their best friend, and many more saw him as a mentor. He provided quiet guidance and gentle encouragement behind the scenes for so many. As a suc- cessful business owner, he was a well-known member of the business forms commu- nity. He served on community boards, was a former preach- er, a volunteer police officer and an outspoken, opinion- ated, stubborn, lovable man whose heart held a tender place for his wife, his children, his grandkids and great-grand kids, and his dogs, Pepper, Coco and Bear. He loved Elvis and the Blues, sang gospel music with his sweet sisters and selflessly devoted his entire life to creating a family, a legacy of love and hope, grace and forgiveness, faith and friendship with his beautiful and devoted wife, Judy. He lived by the words, "Always do what you have to do, before you do what you want to do." His gentle and loving spirit lives on in every single soul he touched. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-four years, Judy Green Crawford; three daugh- ters, Anita Crawford Emery (David) of Selah, Washington, Amber Crawford Chandler (Matthew) of Buffalo, NY and Brandie Crawford Provenzano (Christopher) of Haymarket, Virginia; three sons, Nelson Crawford, Jr. of Spindale, Mark Crawford of Rutherfordton and Erick Crawford of Charlotte; three sisters, Patricia Crawford McEntyre of Ellenboro, Katherine Crawford Smith of Forest City and Sandra Crawford White of Spindale. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church with Reverend Jack Crain officiating. Davis, age 77, of Forest City, died Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Charles was born April 9, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Eldridge Zeno Davis and Mary Bernice Philbeck Davis. He was a graduate of Ellenboro High School, class of 1961. Charles owned and operat- ed Charles Davis Electrical Services for many years and worked for Spindale Mills/Manual Woodworkers until retirement. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and enjoyed restoring cars, going to car shows, farming and the outdoors. Charles loved working with his hands and used his skill as the "fix about everything man" to be a blessing to many. Those left to cherish his memory include his lov- ing wife of fifty-six years, Mary Ellen Davis; daugh- ter, Jennifer Lea Davis of Ellenboro; sister, Lynn Green (David) of Ellenboro; niece, Holly Green and grandniece, Maple Cookson. A celebration of life out- door service was held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 12, 2020 on the church grounds at Providence United Methodist Church with Reverend Cathy Turman and Reverend Nancy Tate officiating. Born in Sussex County, New Jersey, on October 30, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Victor Bischoff and Lucy Margaret Goble Bischoff. Pat was formerly employed with Shadowline of Fallston and Piece Goods of Charlotte until her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lawndale. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Ty Stinchcomb. She is survived by her husband of fifty-sev- en years, Jimmy Calvin Stinchcomb; two daughters, Terri Hord and husband Bobby of Shelby and Lori Goodman and husband Ken of Belwood; one brother, Robert Bischoff and wife Marcia of Wake Forest; five grandchildren, Sarah Hord Ashworth and husband Kyle of St. Albans, England, Emily Goodman Willis and husband Jesse of Vale, William Hord of Brooklyn, NY, Matthew Goodman of Seattle, WA and Kristopher Goodman of Morganton; and one great-grandchild Luke Ashworth. The funeral service was held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Lawndale with the Rev. Keith Sherrill and Rev. Rebekah Ralph officiating. Ricky was born on May 3, 1957 in Cleveland County, NC son of the late Milford Davis and Shirley Richardson Davis. He was a self employed carpenter. Ricky was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Shelby. Survivors include two daughters, Haley Gantt of Vale and Ericka Carpenter of Lincolnton; two sisters, Robin Matthews and Joanie Hovis both of Vale; two nephews, Brad Matthews and Isaac Hovis and a niece, Emily Southers and one grandson, Liam Gantt. LUCILLE REEP MERRELL Blacksburg - Lucille Reep Merrell, 81, of 161 Ridgecrest Drive, passed away Wednesday, June 10th, 2020. Born in Lincolnton, NC, she was the widow of Chris Merrell and the daughter of the late Lewis Reep and Gertha Reep. Mrs. Merrell was a homemaker and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. She loved sewing and taking care of children. Mrs. Merrell is survived by two sons, Christopher Merrell and Michael Merrell (Katie), both of Blacksburg; three daughters, Brenda O'Shields (Jimmy) of Anderson, Bobbie Corry (Shawn) of Blacksburg, and Billie Duff (Eddie) of Gaffney' one brother, Charles Reep of Mooresville, NC; one sister Virginia Sanchez of Brownsville, TX.; Seventeen Grandchildren, Twelve Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preced- ed in death by her children, Connell Merrell, Benjamin Merrell, Robert Humphries, and Corrine Merrell Chandler. Funeral services were held ALBERT PINKNEY "BUDDY" DEDMON, JR. Albert Pinkney "Buddy" Dedmon, Jr., age 91, died June 8, 2020 at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, North Carolina. Born in Cleveland County on December 27, 1928, he was the son of the late Albert Pinkney Dedmon, Sr. and Lela Goins Dedmon. As a young man, Buddy worked at numerous uptown Shelby businesses. He was working at Beam's Soda Shop, next door to the Rogers Theater, when he met the theater man- ager's step-daughter, Betty Gray Grill. They were mar- ried in 1949 and soon after, Buddy took a job with the NC Department of Transportation. The last project, of which he was so proud, was the I-85 Cameron Morrison Bridge over the Catawba River. In addition to his parents, Buddy was predeceased by his first wife of 52 years, Betty Grill Dedmon, and his sister, Betty Dedmon Watson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Ruby Scruggs Robinson Dedmon. He was a loving father to his son, Richard A. Dedmon, and daughter-in- law, Paula Hord Dedmon; two granddaughters and their husbands, Laine and Nico Amortegui of Charlotte, and Leah and Thor Cheston of Washington, DC; three g r e a t - g r a n d d a u g h t e r s , Lucca and Petra Amortegui and Olivine Cheston; broth- er-in-law, Don Watson, five sisters-in-law: Nellie Jo Hamrick, Sara Epperson, Lib Grayson, Nancy Forand, and Jane Curtis; niece and nephew, Donna and Mike Watson; and special grand- niece, Elizabeth Sparks. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private grave- side service will be held in Cleveland Memorial Park's "Garden of the Cross" with Rev. Randy Blanton, offici- ating. JORDAN ALEXANDER "ALEX" JAMISON Jordan Alexander "Alex" Jamison, age 24, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at his home. Born in Cleveland County on October 10, 1995 he was the son of James Alfred Jamison Jr. and step mother, Denise Queen Jamison of Shelby and the late Wendy Michelle Weaver Jamison. Alex formerly worked at IMA (Industrial Maintenance and Automation) and was a cur- rent employee of Kendrion. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Alex loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his boat, his fam- ily, and his friends. He will be missed by so many as he touched so many lives. He loved baseball, football and dearly loved his little broth- er, Phillip. In addition to his mother, Alex is preceded in death by his grandparents, Phil Weaver and James and Diane Jamison. In addition to his father and stepmother, Alex is sur- vived by his siblings, Phillip Jamison of Shelby, Savanna Gary and husband Casey of Shelby; grandmother, Kathy Hoyle Weaver of Cherryville; great grandparents, Charles and Sue Weaver of Shelby; aunts and uncles, Tim and Yolanda Jamison of Newton, Donna and Michael Moore of Mooresboro, Danielle and Scott Whitaker of Cherryville, and Nichole and Andy Hamrick of Shelby; and many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Max Turner Jr and Rev. Dustin Mace officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
