ELLIOTT Miss Lucille E. Elliott, 98, of 330 West College Ave. Apt. A 2 Shelby, NC passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on April 17, 1922 to the late Chancy Elliott and Leona Bostic Elliot. Miss Elliott graduated from Green Bethel High School where she played basket- ball. She was a lifelong lover of sports. She was a mem- ber of Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church where she was very active until her health declined. Miss Elliott's employment includ- ed G.T. McSwain, the Snack Shop in Boiling Springs and the Hamrick Family. Even though she did not have chil- dren of her own, she played a very active role in helping to raise several children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Grady I. Elliott, Thurman James Elliott, Sam Elliott, George Elliott and John Lee Elliott; one sister, Bertha Jolly; one niece, Eloise Wilson and two nephews, Grady Elliott, Jr. and Nicholas Elliott. Fond memories of her are left to her five nieces, Lois Wynn (William) of Brevard, NC, Brenda Elliott of Hendersonville, NC, Barbara Harvard of Beltsville, MD, Rose Webber of Shelby and her special caregiver, Mary Sue Jolly of Mooresboro, NC; nephews, Cail Elliott (Mary) of Gastonia, NC, Keith Elliott (Nina) of Knoxville, TN, James Elliott (Frances) of Morganton, NC, Andrew Brooks (Ladonna) of Shelby, Billy Bridges of Shelby and special nephew, Don Jolley of Shelby; chil- dren she helped rear, Zach RODNEY DEMETRIC "COOLEY" WOODS Mr. Rodney Demetric "Cooley" Woods, 50, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. He was born in Cleveland County, NC on July 2, 1969 to Kathy O'shea Woods and Dwight Anthony Petty. Rodney was a 1987 grad- uate of Burns High School. He was self-employed and owned his own car detailing business "A Touch of Class Auto Detailing. Rodney was a professional drummer, a gift he inherited from his father but was trained under the instruction of his uncle Billy. He began at an early age while at Jerusalem C. F. Church of God and through the years played with many different churches and groups which included First Baptist Church of Lawndale, Neely's Grove Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, The Five Stars of Shelby and Anointed Purpose among oth- ers. He also recorded with Christopher L. Gray and John P. Kee. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfa- ther, Jesse Hartgrove and his paternal grandparents, Grace Petty Sharp and Buford McKinney. He leaves to cherish fond and lasting memories to his wife, Ambra H. Woods; his parents, Kathy O'shea Woods and Dwight Petty (Macie) both of Shelby; two sons Joshua Jones, and Jordan Jones both of Grover, NC; siblings, Tonya Suber (Ian) of Fletcher, NC, Travis Woods of Forest City, NC, Tonya Petty of Shelby and Lisa Petty Hartgrove (David) of Gastonia, NC; his grand- mother, Bessie Hartgrove of Shelby; his father-in-law, William J. Hopper of Shelby; his mother-in-law, Mandy Hopper; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Amanda H. Peak and Carl Hopper all of Grover, NC; special uncles, Billy Hartgrove (Georgiana) and Tim Hartgrove (Pam) both of Shelby; nephews, Areece Peak, Trey Woods, Travis Woods, Jr and Drew Petty; nieces, Jessica Diane Petty, Tyana Suber, Tishaya Woods, Courtney Petty, Brittney Brown and Sydney Brown; special cousins, Tiara "Scooter" Hartgrove, Jamar Hartgrove, Rafael Hartgrove (Tina), Jared Hartgrove and Erika Hartgrove and a host of other extended family and friends. The funeral service for Mr. Woods was private. Burial took place at First Baptist Church of Earl Cemetery. The service was live-streamed on Facebook. RONALD DEE "RD" ELMORE Ronald Dee "RD" Elmore, 77, of Vale, formerly of Shelby, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his home. Born in Cleveland County, on May 22,1943, he was a son of the late Dee Elmore and Lottie Mae Newton Elmore. He was retired from K-Mart as the garden cen- ter manager and worked as a deputy for the Cleveland County Sherriff's Office and a reserve police officer with Shelby Police Department. Ron also retired from the NC Army National Guard after twenty-two years of service. Ron was an avid Shelby High Golden Lions Football fan. He, his son, and friends traveled and attended many games together. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his four sisters, Alice Ware, Geraldine Hanna, Lucille Humphries, and Betty May. He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Kathy Cook Elmore; son, Jeff Elmore and wife Brenda of Shelby; daugh- ter, Kim Elmore Marlowe of Cherryville; stepdaughter, Michele Malouin and hus- band Scott of Vale; brother, Don Elmore and wife Gale of Waco; seven grandchil- dren, Danielle, Emily, John Michael, Justin, Tyler, Amber and Austin; five great-grandchildren, Gavin, Maci, Dawson, Cole, and Jack; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm at New Beginnings Church 4317 Fallston Rd Shelby, NC 28150 with the Rev. Gary Fulker and Rev. John Ware officiating. The burial followed the service in the Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial may be made SARAH LYNN DeBRULER BRADLEY Mooresboro - Sarah Lynn DeBruler Bradley, age 59, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at her home. She is predeceased by her parents, Andrew Thomas DeBruler and Betty Stone DeBruler. Sarah leaves behind to cherish her memories her two daughters, Stephanie Lail Justice, husband Jason and Andrea Lail Yates, husband Chad; five grand- children; three brothers, Andrew DeBruler, Rick DeBruler (Sharon) and Doug DeBruler (Robin); friend, Robert "Sonny" Johnson; her Poodle "Buddy". She enjoyed cooking and traveling. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Private Services will be held at a later date. TIMOTHY "TIM" DONALD HOYLE Shelby - Timothy "Tim" Donald Hoyle, age 34, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at his home. He is predeceased by his mother, Wanda Kay Crotts Hoyle. Tim leaves behind to cher- ish his memories his father, Harvey Hoyle; sisters, Sonya Hoyle and Wanda Hoyle; brothers, Harvey Hoyle and Isaac Hoyle; children, Daniel and April; paternal grandmother, Bertha Hoyle; numerous nieces and neph- ews. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed body building and drawing. He was a won- derful son, brother, father and grandson. He will truly be missed. Private Family Services will be held. MATTHEW "MATT" SETH FRADY Matthew "Matt" Seth Frady, 24, of Cherryville died June 5, 2020 in Lincoln County. Matt was born on September 29, 1995 in Mecklenburg County to William Greg and Jennifer Wilson, Antoine Brown, Sonya Canstler and Celest Ingram; special friend, Dorothy "Dot" Wilson of Shelby and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Miss Elliott was private. Burial took place at Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. OCIE LOU ANN HOLCOMBE Ocie Lou Ann Holcombe, age 66, of Mooresboro, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Ocie was born December 6, 1953 in Rutherford County to the late Elvert Harding Burgess and Lucille Ruppe Burgess. She worked as nurse's aide and a laun- dry attendant for Hillcrest Nursing Home and Rest Well Home for over thir- ty years. Ocie loved ani- mals and especially her fur babies. She enjoyed watch- ing movies and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Lewis, and Audrey Allmond. Survivors include a son, two daughters and special friends, Linda Greene, Terry and Sherry Hageman and Barry Babb. A memorial graveside service was conducted at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020 at the Glenwood Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Terry Hageman offi- ciating. Matt was an auto mechanic. He enjoyed playing the guitar and any- thing to do with music. He loved beautiful cars and fast women. Matt liked fishing and was always outdoors. His heart was too big for this world and he will be missed greatly by those who loved him. Matt was preceded in death by his uncle, Jeff Thomas. MARTHA "JANE" GOINS BUMGARNER Martha "Jane" Goins Bumgarner, age 72, formerly of Hicks St. passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Hunter Woods Nursing and Rehab in Charlotte. She was born on June 8, 1947 in Gaston County to the late Leonard and Nellie Shull Goins. She loved cooking, spend- ing time with family, and mak- ing memories. Jane could often be found sipping on her cup of coffee while tapping her foot and enjoying the day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Bumgarner; and siblings, Betty Jo Gilbert, Bill Kistler, and Charles Kistler. She is survived by her chil- dren, Lisa Rae Bumgarner of Cherryville and Chad Bumgarner of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Destiny Correal of Cherryville, Josh Black and Heather Cranford of Nashville, TN and Faith Putnam of Cherryville; great grandchildren, Ava Jane Black and Calaway Bolton; and siblings, Harold Goins, Frances Barnes, Bobby Dean Goins, Tommy Goins, and Ray Goins.
