The program included a history of their fl ag, and participation in the Ceremony to dispose of unserviceable fl ags. This Ceremony was a public event. The community was invit- ed to attend the Ceremony. This program was an excellent opportunity for all to observe and understand how to properly retire a United State Flag when the fl ag is no longer useable. Many American Legion posts conduct disposal ceremonies of unserviceable fl ags, especially on Flag Day (June 14). Such ceremonies are particularly dignifi ed and solemn occasions for the retirement of unserviceable fl ags. Take your old fl ags to your local American Legion post.
