Independent Living Throughout the Lifespan The Neal Center relies on the work of volunteers to maintain daily operation. These volunteers work tire- lessly to meet the needs of our faithful participants. Without them, the Neal Center couldn't operate. Annually, the center provides a special volunteer appreciation, which rewards our volunteers with a leisurely brunch. It's then followed by the presentation of the awards for service. However, the COVID- 19 virus has required many changes at the Neal Center, especially how the traditional activities are managed. The Neal Center staff believes in and stands by its volunteer program. Therefore, it was decided that our volunteers should still be honored and recognized for their services. Since the center is unable to have the annual brunch, a new and innovative way to honor our volunteers (and stay within health safety guidelines) is to have a "drive-thru"! On Thursday, June 25, the Neal Center volunteers can be a part of the "Neal Center Volunteer Drive-Thru Event"! Between the hours of 9AM-10AM, a pre-registered Neal Center volunteer can drive to the front of the center, obtain a special gift pack of treats, get a "to-go" breakfast, and then drive out! It's a fun, different and innova- tive way to recognize our vol- unteers and show appreciation for their work! The service awards will be distributed at a future date. To be a part of this event, you MUST pre-register! Call Mary Hamrick at the Neal Center at 704/481-7385 to RSVP. The deadline for pre- registration is Wednesday, June 17. This is to provide enough time to calculate how many applicants to prepare for. If you have questions, please contact Paulette Putnam, Neal Center Executive Director, at 704/482-3488.
