And while none of the activities will actually be on-site, library staff members have worked hard to make the experi- ences diverse and engaging. One experience that has already kicked off for the summer is the StoryWalk® at Gateway Trail (807 S. Battleground Avenue, Kings Mountain). "We have been doing this program in conjunc- tions with the Gateway Trail for several years," says Anne Gamble, MML youth services coordina- tor. "Judy Ford, a former teacher, master gardener, and science educator, hosts this project for us." StoryWalk® is an innovative way for children and adults to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children's book are displayed and are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story. New stories are posted every two weeks. StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and has developed with the help of Rachel Senechal of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. For more information about the trail, visit www.kmgatewaytrails.org. Live programming from the library will kick off on June 19, 2020, with a live performance of The Fabulous Fable Forest presented by Sigmon Theatrical. The performance is free, but registra- tion is required. For information about how to register, visit the library website at www.mauneylibrary.org. Storytime sessions are a treasured summer- time tradition for many at MML, and these ses- sions will be happening this summer – just in an online format. "Online Storytime" will begin Tuesday, June 23, 2020. "This is always such a fun time that I get to spend with the children," says Gamble. "We hope many families will take advantage of this service throughout the summer." Sessions are via Zoom on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required. Contact the library for more information. Take-home crafts will also be available for chil- dren and their families throughout the summer months. Prepared craft kits will be available each week. Watch the library's and website for details. Tuesday is trivia day at the library on Facebook and Instagram. (Search for "Mauney Library" to find MML on social media.) "Patrons can test their knowledge by answering our trivia question every Tuesday," says Gamble. Winners will receive prizes. While the library itself remains closed, curbside pickup is available during the summer. Pickup is available Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Up to ten items (up to seven DVDs) may be requested at one time. To place a request for items call 704- 739-2371, using extension 2 for children's items or extension 3 for adult items. Items may also be requested via email at info@mauneylibrary.org and using the subject line "Curbside Pickup." You are asked to include your name, library card num- ber, email address and phone number with your request. A staff member will contact you to let you know when your item is available for pickup.
