He was born in Ohio to the late Henry Braleski and Mary Winter Braleski. Mark leaves behind to cher- ish his memories his three sons, Justin Braleski, Jessie Braleski and Alex Braleski; one granddaughter, Autumn Braleski; a special friend, Nancy Schanez. Stationed in California, he served in the United States Navy in the 1980's. He was also a Commercial Fisherman in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend that will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. No Services are planned at this time. LARRY DEAN STIDHAM Larry Dean Stidham, 72 of Bingham Road, Shelby, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at his residence. Born in Cleveland County on October 29, 1947, he was the son of the late Morgan Ray Stidham and Lula Mae Chapman Stidham. He was retired from Beam Construction and attended Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Larry was a charter member of the Windjammer Club. He was a loving father and devoted husband. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Fitch, Jr. and a brother, Wayne Stidham. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Gloria Hollifield Stidham; son, Bobby Dean Stidham of Waco; two daugh- ters, Gennie Thackerson and husband, Scott of Shelby and Chantelle Glover and hus- band, Ronald of Cherryville; a brother, Ray Stidham of Shelby; a sister, Sonya Parker and husband, Kevin of Casar; five grandchildren, Shyanne Stidham, Alexus Stidham, Matthew Thackerson, Andrew Thackerson and Bryce Lynn Glover and one great-grand- child, Jaxson Ridge. Due to COVID-19 restric- tions social distancing, mask will be required while attending services. The family will received friends on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel. The burial followed the service in the Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery. DAVID ANDREW PETTY David Andrew Petty, age 66, passed away on May 25, 2020 at Atrium Health Cleveland. He is survived by two broth- ers, John Petty and wife Melanie of Bangor, ME, and Keith Petty and wife Gail of Kings Mountain, NC, as well as numerous nieces and neph- ews. Born in Andrews, NC on November 29, 1953, David was the son of the late John Hubert Petty and Geneva Gregory Petty. He was also preceded in death by his sis- ter, Connie Brooks. David enjoyed music and being around family. The fam- ily is grateful for the love and care that Fred and Margaret Towery and Lawndale Methodist Church showed to David. The family is also thankful for the support and care that Joseph Tanyi pro- vided to David at the group home where he stayed. "Pete" Heavner, 80, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at CaroMont Health in Gastonia. Pete was born in Gaston County, NC on November 1, 1939 a son of the late Basil F. Heavner and Vergie Mauney Heavner. He was retired as a yard and dock worker from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation in Cherryville. Pete was a member of Second Baptist Church in Cherryville. He was an avid fisherman and loved to tell jokes and laugh. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Dennis L. Heavner and a sister Sabra Thornburg. Survivors include his wife, Judy Phillips Heavner of the home; four daughters Donna Sain and husband Mike of Lincolnton; Pam Childers and husband Steve of Cherryville; Jana Crow of Lincolnton and Tracy Heavner of Cherryville; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a number of nieces and neph- ews. CHARLES WAYNE PUTNAM Charles Wayne Putnam, 73, of Kings Mountain, NC, went to his Heavenly home on May 26, 2020 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. He was born in Cleveland County to the late William Hoyle and Lydia Hicks Putnam and was preceded in death by his lov- ing wife of 44 years, Susan Putnam. Charlie was also pre- ceded in death by his grand- son, Andrew Dylan Putnam. He was "The meat man" for Harris Teeter for forty-two years and was employed by Harris Funeral Home for many years as a funeral assistant. Charles and wife Helen were members at Patterson Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He also served as the custodian for his church for ten years. Charles loved golf, hunting, his Red Man and baseball; especially his Atlanta Braves. He also loved and cherished "his boys" from Dixie Youth Baseball where he coached his team all the way to the Dixie Youth World Series. Charles was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in- law, brother and friend. He will be missed immensely by his family, friends and community. ELMER CARROLL Grover - Elmer Carroll, age 73, passed away at his home on Monday, April 13, 2020 surrounded by family. He is predeceased by his par- ents, Morris Vernon and Elsie Dover Carroll. He leaves behind to cher- ish his memories his spouse, Pat Carroll; four brothers, E.M. Carroll, J.C. Carroll, JR. Carroll and Wendell Carroll; one sister, Susie Martin; fur baby, Kojak. He retired from Doran Textiles as a Warehouse Worker and retired as a Security Guard from Milliken. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and he loved life. A Graveside Service was held on Friday, April 17, 2020 at Cleveland Memorial Park at 2:00 PM with Pastor Matthew Klinck officiating. DORIS KESTER FREEMAN Doris Kester Freeman, age 82 of E. Main St. passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Peak Resources in Shelby. She was born November 24, 1937 in Gaston County to the late Lawrence Hunter and Alice Eliza Carpenter Kester. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retried from Dallas Pillow. Doris was a proud member for over 20 years of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #100. She loved to volunteer and serve her community. She also enjoyed shopping and going out to eat with friends and family. Doris loved base- ball and was an avid Braves fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Don, and Jim Kester. Survivors include her hus- band, Bobby Freeman, Jr.; sons, Steve Garver and Tim Garver (Phyllis); stepsons, Jeff Freeman (Tonya) and Mark Freeman (Mary Ann); adopted daughter, Mary Swendsen; brothers, Larry, Bob, and Kenneth Kester; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held privately at First Baptist Church. Burial followed at City Memorial Cemetery. LISA LYNETTE ALLEN CAMP GROVER - Lisa Lynette Allen Camp, age 53, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Atrium Healthcare - Shelby. She was the daugh- ter of the late Martha Lucille Harrison Goforth. Lisa leaves behind to cher- ish her memories her spouse, Randy Camp; two daughters, Krystal Wylie and Lacey Allen; one son, Joshua Allen; five grandchildren, Dalton Jones, Joshua Jones, Damon Jones, Jaxson Jones and Gage Allen. She enjoyed spending most of her time with her children, grandchildren and the rest of her family. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. No Services are planned at this time. PAMELA ANN McKINNEY HARMON Pamela Ann McKinney Harmon, age 64 passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 24, 2020. She was a native of Cleveland County; daughter of the late Jerry and Glenda McKinney. Also pre- ceding her in death was her husband of 43 years Ansel Harmon. Surviving are her son Jerry Harmon (Shelley), two grand- children Lauren Phillips and Tristan Vassey; one broth- er Scott McKinney (Donna) and several extended family members. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Barrett, grandchildren, Keri Dorsey and husband Cole Dorsey, Heather Barrett and Dustin Barrett, great-grandchildren, Logan Dorsey and Lucas Dorsey; daughter, Kimberly Duren and husband Richard Duren, grandchildren, Kristen Hurdt and husband Joseph Hurdt, Kaitlin and Kathryn Duren. Naomi worked at Sears & Roebuck in the jewelry and camera department though she often modeled merchan- dise and swimwear. In later years, it was the modeling memories she would recall with a glimmer in her eye and a smile on her face. Naomi will be remembered for her pioneering spirit, unwavering love and unend- ing devotion which she shared with all who knew her. DOUGLAS "DOUG" WAYNE MERCK SHELBY - Douglas "Doug" Wayne Merck, age 59, of Lincolnton, NC passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at his home in Shelby, NC of nat- ural causes. Born January 03, 1961 in Lincolnton, NC, Son of Charles and Clara Merck. He enjoyed music, riding horses and learning about Native American History. He is survived by his wife, Diane Merck; daughter, Melissa and husband Adal Leon, three grandchildren, Rosie, Anthony and Aron; daughter, Kelly and hus- band Tommy Hendrix, grand- son, Rocky; son, Douglas "Deejay" Wayne Merck, Jr., grandson Leo; step-children, Mary Hillard, Stevie Riles and TJ Riles; sisters and broth- ers, Sheila Smith and hus- band, Gail Peterson, Sissy Mode and husband, Tammy Johnson and husband and Chuck Merck and wife; niece, Boot and many more.
