Mr. McCurry was a mem- ber of Eastside Baptist Church and loved to fish and hunt in his leisure. Left to cherish the memo- ries are two sons; Edward J. McCurry (Judy) and Troy D. McCurry (Tessa), Grandchildren; Michael McCurry (Susan), Jaclyn Wright (Michael), Kennedy Downs, Carter Downs, Caroline McCurry, and John David McCurry, and seven great grandchildren. Interment fol- lowed at Clingman Memorial Gardens. JOY POSS Joy Poss, 56, passed away May 23, 2020, at home. She was born December 29, 1963, in Thompson, Georgia to Patsy Lamb Poss and the late John Edward Poss. Left to cherish her memo- ries are her partner, Penny Jones; mom, Patsy Lamb Poss of Florida; sisters, Johnnie Kay Ealum and BJ of Florida, Clyde Stanland and Larry of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Diane McDonald of Anchorage, Alaska; broth- er, Louis Poss of Missouri; kids, Chastity McMahan and Ernest of Shelby, Sandy Phomson and Tip of Grover, Latoya Perry of Kings Mountain, Hollie "Tha Brat" Jones of Kings Mountain; 8 grandchildren; and numer- ous nieces and nephews. JIMMY LEE WILLIAMS Jimmy Lee Williams, age 56, of Haynes Moretz Drive, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. He was born April 14, 1964 in Lincoln County to the late Joe Pinkney and Margaret Cornelius Wilson Williams. Jimmy loved to fish and enjoyed catfishing at Robinson Catfish Lake out- side of Dallas, NC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jean Williams and Joann Williams. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 34 years, Cathy Williams; daughters, Chelsa Williams (Thomas Lynch), and Christina Canipe (Brian); nephews and nieces, Marshal Weathers (Tosha), Cynthia Cherry (Steve); grandchildren, Alexis, Michael, Alex, Haylee, and Ashley. A private graveside service, officiated by Rev. Leonard Bumgarner, was held at the Eaker Family Cemetery, VENNIE LEE HUDSON Vennie Lee Hudson, 77, of Woodrow Hoyle Road, Casar, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her residence. Born in Cleveland County, on March 16, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cornelius Hudson and Elmer Lillie Swink Hudson. She was a home- maker and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Casar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoover Ben Hudson; a daughter, Mary Hudson and a brother, John Hudson. Survivors include daugh- ters, Lillie Buff of Morganton, Linda Hudson of Casar, Peggy Canipe of Lawndale and Sherry Henderson of Casar; sons, Harold Hudson of Casar, Rick Hudson of Cherryville, Wayne Hudson of Casar and Dowell Hudson of Casar; sisters, Betty Hudson of Morganton, Margie Hudson of Bostic, Georgia Barrett of Shelby, Zennie Smith of Lawndale and Wilma Epley of Morganton; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Mrs. Hudson lay in state at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The graveside service was held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Mt. DAVID LEE McCURRY Mr. David Lee McCurry, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2020 in Gaffney SC. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Carolyn Crestwell McCurry and son of the late Crouse. Mr. Williams lay in state from 10am to 12pm Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Carpenter- Porter Funeral and Cremation Services. WAYNE "SPARKIE" NOLEN Wayne "Sparkie" Nolen, age 73, of Forest City, went home to be his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Wayne was born January 25, 1947 in Rutherford County to Jennie Mae Nolen who resides in Bostic and the late R.D. Nolen. He worked for Duke Energy for twenty-one years before his retirement and was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church. Wayne served as an usher and held the title of "Candy Man" at the church. He was also known for his "secret handshake." Wayne enjoyed working in his man cave on small engines and on just about anything. He used his "tinkering" skills to be a blessing to many. Above all, Wayne loved his grandchil- dren dearly. He was a dedi- cated husband, father, grand- father, brother, and friend. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Nolen. Besides his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fif- ty-four years, Arlene Nolen; two daughters, Kim Hutchins (David) and Kelly Nolen- Circello (Mike) all of Forest City; son, Jamie Nolen (Jamy Robbins) of Forest City; two sisters, Joyce Dobbins (Robert) of Six Points, Patsy Lail (Mike) of Mooresboro and mother-in-law, Hazel Jenkins of Sandy Mush. He is also survived by four spe- cial grandchildren, Hayden Hutchins, Hunter Hutchins, Liam Circello and Eleanora YOLONDA KAY ROCHFORD Yolonda Kay Rochford, 69, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 23, 2020 at her home. She was born in Beckley, West Virginia, daughter of the late Kenneth G. and Josephine Shirkey Lilly and was pre- ceded in death by her brother Gary Lilly. Kay was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed cross stitching, working with plastic canvas and stamping in her free time. Kay was always active and loved shopping. Very outgoing, Kay never met a stranger. She was a dedi- cated and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Survivors: husband of 50 years: Rich Rochford, of the home; sons: Richard Rochford Jr. and wife Grace, Knoxville, MD and Kenneth Rochford and wife Brenda, Cranberry Township, PA; and Grandchildren: Maria, Kenneth, Paul, Amber, Emily and Kaitlin Rochford. JOANN WRIGHT HARRILL Joann Wright Harrill, 81, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on November 17, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Edward Wright and Georgia Queen Wright. Mrs. Harrill retired from the City of Shelby and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Circello. The funeral service was conducted at 3:00 Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm offi- ciating. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The body lay in state on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations are requested to the Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund, 630 S. ANGIE SCRUGGS PUGH Shelby: Angie Scruggs Pugh, 49, died Saturday, May 24, 2020, at Atrium Health in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, she is the daughter of Patricia Lemons Scruggs of Shelby, and the late CB Scruggs. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening and painting. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her boyfriend, Jim Padgett. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Nicholas Pugh; daughters, Casie, Kristin and Gracie Pugh; brothers, Brian Bowman and Chris Scruggs; and grandchildren, Kayden Pugh and Sophia Lockridge, all of Shelby. A graveside service was held 2pm, Friday, May 29, 2020, in Sunset Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Holland officiating.
